yeah, I can't stop looking at it!

I have to get rid of that outgassing in the unit before I can sleep in it, though. I get such headaches from formaldehyde. I read about the ammonia baking treatment to get rid of new-RV smell. Did anyone do that?

I did the ammonia treatment in our new Cougar in 2006 and it did work.
After two years it still outgasses some when it is hot and all the windows and vents are closed but clears out quickly when we open the door. When it's cool or when we have the air on it doesn't bother me.

Congratulations! It's a beautiful rig.

I understand your lifelong yearning. As a child, I always wanted a camper. I'd see a trailer go by and wonder about the people in it--where they had been, where they were going, the things they would get to do and see next. Most of all, I'd wonder how they were so lucky to get to have a camper. (You don't have to tell me---I already know I was a weird kid.)

When DH and I finally entered the RV lifestyle, I was 46 years old. The day we brought our new 5er home, my mother told DH, "That is something she has wanted all her life."

BTW I still wonder about the people when I see RVs--where they've been, where they're going, and what they'll see and do. And most of all, I thank God that I have been blessed to realize my childhood dream.

I wish you and your family many happy camping trips.

Wow, that's the best thing I've heard in a long while. Expresses how many of us feel about camping/travel/rving. Well said. Congrats to this poster and the OP.

Thanks everyone...I hate to say it, but our first trip will be delayed a bit. See below...

Yes, these are the stairs to our RV. My husband was about to pull it out of the barn last night so I could load it for today's planned camping trip and, um, I ran back in for just a sec and left the stairs down. I thought he would fold them up for me and he thought I'd leave the RV the way I found it. He pulled out and the side of the barn kinda sorta got in the way of the stairs.

"I thought..." The most worthless words in the English language. Cause it generally means that no one thought at all.

Whups. Gotta order new stairs. Looks like they're about $300 and hopefully the husband can install them himself.

Look at it this way, you've already got the first big "OOPS!" out of the way. I suppose you could just leave the stairs as is...it might come in handy if you've had a few too many...

Congrats on the new rig.

Consider it the first lesson learned, always double check before pulling out. Don't blame each other just repair, laugh and carry on. We've all had small or large mishaps, the first ones when the rig is new are the toughest for sure.
