Here we come!. Leaving Saturday morning for James Island County Park for 5 nights. Will be visiting Ft Sumter, Mt Pleasant, Patriots Point, Ft Moultrie, lots of eating establishments and of course touring the historic district. Anyone else going to be at James Island next week?

Not next week but we will be there the week after. Let me know what you do and if it is worth our going to. We can't wait too! We are staying at Oak Plantation. Could not get a site at James Island.

Be sure to take one of the trolley tours, it gives you so much more prespective of the history. I cant remember which one but take the one you can get off and get back on.

We spent a week there last July. Take a tour first as samsphones said. We took the carriage tour late in our stay and wish we had done it first. It gives you a prospective on everything. We had a blast and could have stayed another week. We toured several plantations in addition to the things you mentioned. There is a three masted schooner that you can go out in the harbor on too that is cool. It leaves from the aquarium downtown.

We were there a few months ago. Spent two and a half days but it wasn't enough. I concur with the tolley ride, it gives you a good overall view then you can go back and see things that interest you.
We stayed at Oak Plantation which was nice, only a few miles outside of town.
Also went to Magnolia Plantation - spent several hours but could easily have spent an entire day. Will definitely be going back soon...

Also visit Boon Hall Plantation. Several movies, and mini series filmed there. Including North and South. Still a working plantation.

If you are up to walking, take a walking tour of historic Charleston. You can go places you can't go otherwise. We chose Charleston Strolls and we were very pleased. It is a two hour tour and I don't think we sat down at all during that time. We were just there a few weeks ago and really enjoyed it.
