Has anyone seen an adapter that you can use to plug both the TC and the flat trailer type plug into your truck? Standard big plug on TC and truck. Need a way to run the lights on the trailer while hauling the TC.

I replaced my oem Pollak 7 pin receptacle with the picture below. Since I lost two of my 7 to 4 pin flat connector adapter it is worth the upgrade. Made by Hopkins btw and they are available at Autozone for $25.00

Ford's better idea for 2008 (it was similar to the pic above in 2003)was to place the doors left-open / right open so when you have the 4 Pin in you cannot open the the 7 Pin door far enough to get the connector in. You have to cut off part the "tabs" on both the 7 Pin connector and the door and force the 4 pin door hard to the right to get the connector in. I'll never figure out why they let these engineers design a truck with a "Camper Package" when they don't even own (or probably even never seen) a camper. They should be designed by the guys on the line and assembled by the guys with the ties on!

Just thought - when I bought my truck the sales person was saying that some trucks have the flat type next to the 7 pin. You may want to check this out first as the one that he showed me was a Chevy.

I bought a Hopkins 40955 adapter for my '02 Silverado, it replaces the factory 7 pin and plugs into the factory harness. You get the 7 pin and a 4 pin flat right next to, works great for the boat when the camper is on it.

If I had to guess, they probably didn't want the user to use both at once. Maybe the wiring/fuses aren't large enough to feed 2 "trailer's" worth.

The trailer wiring ckts for 1)running lights 2)brake lights 3)backup lights & 5)/6) left & right turn signals are each fed by individual 30 amp fuses. Not to mention the electric brakes and +12v. I think you are giving those automotive engineers wayyyyyyyyyyyyy to much credit.
