since we have decided to keep the spare tire on does anyone know if skid wheels really help? we have almost no clearance when trying to get our motor home into our driveway and bottom out on the hitch receiver. It seems to me that if we put a skid wheel on we will only bottom out more and put more pressure on the frame.

Any thoughts on this and if there is anyone that has skid wheels do they work? Camping world has solid steels ones just wondering how long they will last as well.

Skid wheels will decrease the drag but will increase the pressure on the frame if you think the increased pressure is a problem. It probably isn't.

Try to be going straight when the wheels are in contact with the ground.

I have installed skid wheels that seem to hang rather low. No real problems yet, but I am considering putting on different ones.

Since your receiver is the problem point, just get one of the wheels designed to go on the bottom of the receiver. They are small metal ones that will not hang down much and will reduce friction from dragging. Shouldn't add much if any pressure on frame.

I had originally put some skid wheels on my class C using the screw on type w/brackets. The brackets did not hold up well so I am going to replace them with the weld on variety. We scrape for an inch or two at the bottom of our driveway. Fortunately, the lowest part on my coach is the skid plates on the hitch mount bar, don't have any issues with anything else hitting.
