I always thought it would be easy for someone with a truck to steal a TC that was parked off its truck. I want to be able to drop off the TC at a lakeside and feel it is safe. Any thoughts or security devices? I'm not overly paranoid, but stuff happens.
No matter where you park it, if they want it they'll take it. Pay up your insurance and don't sweat it.
My neighbor bought himself a brand spankin new Tahoe and a Contender 27 with twin 250s and had them stolen together, next day, from his driveway. Even with OnStar they cannot find it.
There are news stories of 32' to 38' new powerboats with twins on trailers, being taken from peoples back yards behind a fence in midday.
Nothing you can do about it. Worrying won't help. Enjoy your toy. There is a reason you insure it.
If it gets stolen get a good attorney to face insurance co.

Disabling the jacks would the way to keep it from being able to be loaded onto another truck.
The likelihood of someone stealing the whole camper is probly very low though. I would be alot more worried about someone breaking into it while gone and stealing items of value from inside.
You probably cannot do anything to keep it from being taken from your site if they really want it bad enough.
However there are many systems available that will tell you it is being moved outside of a pre-determined area.
Basically the camper knows where it is via a GPS unit, the area is defined geographically, when the the camper is moved from that area you will be alerted via cell phone, internet etc....
There are many companies offering this service to companies that have to leave heavy equipment at remote job sites, truck trailers etc .
Taking a TC which has been lowered is a bit different than hitching up a trailer and running. The smash-n-grab crowd may loot your camper's contents, but I doubt they will run off with the entire camper.
The only way that could happen is if the camper was unattended for a signficant length of time *AND* you had developed a predictable occupancy pattern (ie: you are gone fishing every day from 5am to 5pm). It would have to be a targeted theft as well (even thieves need tie-downs).
The fundamental thing about thieves is they are lazy. If they wanted to work for something, they would not be thieves in the first place. A TC is a difficult target to steal which requires some planning and forethought. Because thieves are lazy, they will look for an easier target before considering a TC.
Granted, if the TC is loaded on the truck with the keys in the ignition - well the process just became a whole lot easier!
