Considering that many campground have to pay an employee to 'clean' the fire pits, it probably is a good thing when the unused fire wood is taken from the site.

If I am leaving wood I usually ask a neighbor if they want it. One particular CG we stay at the owners get mad when we bring our own wood and leave it because it cuts into their sales. This is a high profit item for this particular cg because I know he can buy a dump truck load of cut to length scraps $15.00 plus his time to haul it and then sells small armloads for $4.00 each which I consider to be a rip off. One needs several bundles to have a decent fire for a couple of evenings. We bring real firewood from home and lots of it. No worry about the beetle problem because we're within 50 miles.

People leave it for the next guy. It just so happens your husband is, more often then not, the next guy.

If it's listed in the Yellow Pages, the government shouldn't be messing around with it.

I usually take my extra wood home. That stuff is getting almost expensive as gas! Oh by the way, if any of you would like to leave behind your unused generator gas, I would be more than happy to take that!

I agree with most of the posts. If the site has been vacated. By taking the left over firewood you are assisting with the clean up of that camp site. Take it and enjoy!

You may have a point here. In this case, if we were leaving wood, we would offer it to someone rather than leave it to the owners. But like another poster here, we take our wood home as we use it year-round in the woodstove.

I distinctly over heard the guy that left the wood tell the OP's husband that he could have the wood.

I'll be leaving about 20 nice seasoned sticks when I break camp tomorrow. Come and get it!
