Our Township is considering a zoning ordinance to eliminate parking Recreational Vehicles in driveways.
Looking for logical rebuttals to suggest not implementing the ordinance.
Thanks for your thoughts.

Whether logical or not, sheer numbers may help. Rally support from any RV owners in the township (drive around and distribute notices of the twp meeting at every home that has an RV). That worked for us locally when the village board wanted to ban parking of RVs on owners' properties. At least they watered down the law.
I think the Good Sam Club has help available, like what you're seeking, for situations like this.
Good luck!

Get a petition going. If you have local support it won't go through if you don't then it probably will.

Are you a member of FMCA? If so, give them a call. They can give some guidance in this area.

Numbers is the only thing that may help.. That and, for you, a "Grandfather" clause.
Alas, city councils do not listen to logic, they listen to VOTERS Pack the meeting... What city is it.

We have a local law on the books about not having an RV in the driveway. A guy I know was having a hard time with one neighbor who didn't like his RV. He moved the RV to his side yard but the same neighbor complained it was to close to the road. It had to be 25 feet from the road. It was 20 feet from the road.
I was sent there to tell him to move the RV or he would have to go to court. He told me about all the trouble he was having with this one neighbor. I knew his family had an old 1940's tow truck that was all rotted out. I told him he was allowed to have 1 unregistered vehicle on his property. I told him if I had a neighbor like that, I'd have the tow truck moved to my side yard and put a planter on the roof. He had it moved to his side yard. He put a fence around it on 3 sides so no one else had to see it.
He was within the law and they couldn't make him move it. He finally moved it and never had a problem with his neighbor about his RV.

My suggestions below were made if you had time, your actions are late. At this point bring as many RV owners to the meeting as possible and demand it be dropped or demand they hold some public information meetings where a small group of interested parties can explore the issue. That will buy time. On another note some of these people making the decision are probably up for reelection in November tell them this is an issue they will loose votes and monetary support on.
These are political decisions and often made out of site. Who are the council people? Do they belong to Rotary? When an issue comes up I discuss it in person often a casual atmosphere with our County Supervisor, City Council members, or City Manager.
Find out who’s pushing it and why? Fight it before it gets to a Council meeting (to late), you need to derail its momentum quietly if possible. Otherwise you will be lining up sides for a public fight. And lets face it there are more in the public that may not want to look at motor homes in the driveway then there are RV owners. Try to get it side lined in public information meetings.

In considering the logic aspect I would think one could argue that having an RV parked on one's own property is that it is likely to reduce crime, in that RVs in storage are much more prone to theft. Having the RV parked on your own lot will reduce crime in your area, your neighborhood is much more secure than a storage lot.

Also get of hold of the national Good Sam Office. You must look at this meeting as the opening salvo in a long battle and a call to get organized. Good Sam national can send you a list of every Good Sam member, by name, address and phone number in your Zip Code and surrounding areas. You may have to take a leadership role and speak on behalf of other owners.
Time is of the essence do not waste it.
