I want to top up my hydraulic oil for my jacks, but I can't find anyone who sells HWH oil. My manual says to use only HWH. I called the co. and they said it's OK to use Dexron III, but now I discover that Dexron III is no longer being made. Do I have to buy from HWH and pay shipping etc?

The only difference between the Dexron and HWH fluids is that HWH doesn't have any color added to it. Just use the Dexron, that's what HWH says for our system.

Camping World I think carry's it.
You may also want to call RV dealers that have RV's that have the HWH system. That is what we have.
You can still get DEX lll, It just does not say dex lll. It will read multi purpose transmission fluid.
Hope that helps,
Britt

If you need confirmation why not call back HWH?? It's hydaulic oil. As long as you make sure it won't eat the seals you will be fine.

Transmission fluid is what HWH recomends.......the difference between tranny fluid and real deal HWh fluid is the red dye.......
If I recall.......the manual says to use tramsmission fluid in the event HWH oil is not available...........

Lots of oil companies still product Dexron-III ATF, but they can no longer use that name. Look for ATF named D-M or M-D or DexMerc, or something like that which refers to the obsolete names Dexron-III and Mercon. GM isn't licensing that product...they're now recommending Dexron-VI in all Hydramatic transmissions, and TES-389 fluid in Allison transmissions (which IS Dexron-III with a new name). (By the way, Ford is no longer licensing anyone to make Mercon ATF.)
I'm free of prostate cancer for 5 years now.
All men over age 50 should get an annual PSA blood test. Mine had a low reading, but the yearly jump was significant. The biopsy showed cancer just entering the aggressive stage. Dr. Hackenslash removed it.

I just clipped this from an HWH operators manual found on the HWH website:
"FLUID: HWH Specialty Hydraulic Oil is recommended. In an emergency Dexron automatic transmission fluid can be used.
DO NOT USE brake fluid or hydraulic jack fluid. Use of these can damage seals.
Dexron automatic transmission fluid contains red dye and can cause staining should a leak occur."
