i wanted to pass this on to the members of rv.net about bates rv at dover fla. i purchased a 08 jayco eagle 322fks nov.14 2007.they transfered my hitch set-up and instaled a reece dual sway control.they failed to check that i had a 2" ball instead of a 2-5/16 ball.pulled the trailer about 60 miles away near orlando.got to reading my owners manual and saw that it required a 2-5/16 ball.changed the ball and called frank bates at his house, left a message.he called me the next morning i explained the ball problem he was sorry and he would have his service manager call me.he did ,the 1st thing came out of his mouth i didnt have to call frank bates i had w/d bars on my hitch and it was no way it would of came off the ball.i told him dont go there with me. 2nd problem, coming home to n.c. had constant sway ,liteness in front end and had to drive with two hands to hold it in the road.came spring took it to a local dealer,he had to reset tilt and adjust dual sway to work .i had to pay him $130.00 to go back and reset everthing.i sent a letter to frank bates asking him to pay the bill for the rework.havent heard anything in almost 5 weeks.sorry for being so long but wanted to let everyone know about this dealership and service dept.
The same type of gripe for me, too. They replaced the bulb seals around one of my slide outs and adjusted the slide out. I made it about 350 miles after I left their shop where the slide was extended for the night. It was in a bind and I had to jerk on it to get it to come out. My failure was that I didn't call Frank at home. His service manager would not consider refunding the cost of the labor to adjust the slide. However, he would re-adjust the slide IF I brought the coach back to him in Dover. As we were on our way to Houston, I declined to do that. I won't even go into how long I had to camp in their parking lot waiting first for an estimate, then waiting on parts to arrive and subsequent "repair". We did have water and sometimes electrical. My thought is that all folks who might consider repairs there, should consider going across the highway or down the road instead.

Although we have not used their service department, I did stop at Bates twice when we were looking for a Class C. Their used coaches were filthy (we're talking about a $100k plus Super C), the sales people were not at all knowledgeable and the least professional of any of the 7 dealerships that I went to over a three day period. Actually, incredibly unprofessional would be a better description. Those factors alone sent up red flags and I decided that I would never buy anything from them.
