I had mentioned earlier this week about having rot issues with my trailer. I have been tearing it down and figured id post some pictures of what i have so far. You can clearly see how the front right and front left corners of the trailer are severly rotted. The floor joists are real bad around the water heater. It looks like I'm going to have to remove the skin on the front of the trailer. I know how to get the window out but im alittle uncertain exactly how it comes off. Hopefully someone can tell me if im right. It's a 1986 terry taurus. Do i remove the corner strips to expose the screws then take them out and pull the staples from the bottom of the skin and work my way up?
Here are the pics
86 Terry Taurus rot pictures.
Thanks

Yes, remove the windows then the corner mouldings and then the staples that are underneath. Working from the bottom up will enable you to slip the skin out one section at a time. Be careful to remove all staples and screws. If you want a stronger frame reinstall kiln dried Douglas Fir. Screw and glue it with Gorilla glue. Have a great time with it!

Had to do the same thing with my 76 coachmen. If you need to replace and of the interior studs, I laid the siding on the ground put together and used the screw holes as a pattern for the walls. I had to replace one of the front corners floor to ceiling. the hardest part was fabracating a corner round for the top corner. I also had to replace the whole wall where the shower/tub was. and had to replace the bracket where the turn signals were. WHATEVER you do DO NOT do what the idiot did to try and fix the front corner. He used expansion foam insulation to insulate the front. All that did was push the siding out off the studs. Also, it wouldnt hurt to install some new insulation. I used the styrofoam type in the front, and reinforced the bottom of the front below to window with some 1x2's due to rocks and stones, and sealed the seams with silicone caulking to keep it dry from the rain/water wash when driving. OH almost forgot, I used the clay type weather stripping/molding underneath the corner strips, or you could use self sealing screws, (the ones with the rubber washer on them, sheet metal screws i think they are called)Just some ideas for you. And dont forget to re-tar the seams in the front when your done on the roof.
GOOD LUCK!!
p.s. Since I upgraded, I now have a decent hunting shack for sale.

I only have to go alittle more than halfway up the wall in the front. I dont plan on messing much with the ceiling. I know i should really remove the whole pieces and replace them but i'd rather splice into the good wood and stay as far away from the ceiling as possible. The side studs I am going to cut out the rotted wood and use cripples to replace the bottom portions. I cant see ripping all that out for 1 foot's worth of rot. I will treat the rest of the wood with CPES for insurance.

I know you bought this used so it`s not your fault.
These pics are the reason why maint. is needed on a TT. if the windows were resealed on a regular basis, and any and all seams and marker lites. you would not have been doing this!
Good luck with the rebuild, looks like your making progress.

Looks like you have a very good start on your project. The only thing I can add to your list of do's would be to use the blue foam board you can get at Home Depot or Lowes. I used 3/4" twice thick in the walls. It really does make it cooler and warmer. Not to mention quieter also.
Now is the time to plan on extra 12v lights or 120v outlets. I added a 12v pourch light and one up front by the tanks and batteries. I also add a 2x4 piece in the front side wall, to mount my flag. That gave it the strength I need to hold it without pulling it out of the wall.
Demo work is the most depressing but its all down hill after that.
Good luck and keep us posted on your work.
