Well mike_mn started This thread ! ! ! ! ! and asked me how it was gonna feel to cut a big gaping hole in my slide ! ! I bought the door from e-bay for $19.99. I've had the door for a couple of weeks now! Today (this afternoon) is the day I will break out the reciprocating saw and Git-R-Done ! ! ! I will take pics. Wish me luck!

Thanks to all, Mark

Don't worry, you can do it. We did it and the extra space is so worth the stress of adding the door.

Mark, I believe I have seen some of your other mods in the past and I think you have it under complete control and dont need any luck. In fact I bet that it will be better than if you had hired a "professional". Looking forward to pics also. OK since a little luck never hurt... Good luck

Thanks everyone ! !

BTW, I have another question. I'm thinking about putting the hinge side of the compartment door at the bottom. Does anyone know of why I should or shouldn't do this. I can eliminate the need for one of those goofy door "holder-uppers". Plus the door won't interfere with my kitchen window. Any advice would be appreciated ! !

Mark,

The only reason I could think of; is if someone is trying to put something heavy in the compartment and it slipped out of their hands it could break the door off. Sounds silly but could happen. Or if they just leaned on the door when it was opened it could cause it to be damaged.

I know you will do a great job !!

Good Luck !

so the extra screw holes for the hinge are on top anf therfore less likely to leak??? Just a guess.

I think you might increase the chances of water getting in! I'm not sure exactly what door you have, but take a look at it, and see if you think that being upside down would allow rain to work it's way in.

Good luck!

mark, i wonder if the hinges are strong enough to bear the weight if placed on the bottom. all it would take is someone bending in to grab something and putting weight on it.

Good luck and post pictures. I would mount it normally, there must be some reason they all mount them hinge up.
