I also had the dealership lower the Buckstop bumper assembly during installation to approximately 1" of clearance below the headlights and associated sheet metal based on Steve_in_29's previous caution about 1/2" not being sufficient clearance for off-road flexing of the frame-mounted bumper versus the body.
Let me know how this works out. I haven't bothered to reposition mine yet since the damage is already done.

I did notice that Ford had strategically placed some thin rubber strips to prevent the same thing happening with the stock bumper but unfortunately the Buckstop doesn't hit in the same place.

With my Dodge 3500's fully boxed frame, I may have been able to get away with the 1/2" clearance recommendation from Buckstop as compared to the more flexy (aka weaker) Ford F-350 frame, but based on your unfortunate off-road experience, I didn't want to take any chances.
flexy? ...bit of stretch huh? New bumper looks great though and it sounds like the lift kit worked out nicely.

Thanks Ben (and the front end lift kit did work out well). By the way, don't miss seeing Steve's comment about considering a Dodge over a Ford in the "Ford offers A plan pricing to everyone" thread. It's a gem!
I dont know how I missed that post! Your right it is a gem...especially that part about "seeing the light" throught the rust holes

Your welcome- woulda, coulda shoulda- In the past 6 months I added a pre-runner type light bar, PIAA lights and a hidden hitch- all told the Buck Stop would have been just a little more--I could ebay it all!

I was really struggling (OK kicking myself) when you guys were putting that group buy together!

What is the weight of the bumper without the winch?
For the Ford version, Buckstop gives a figure of 190lbs more then the stock (sheetmetal and fiberglass) bumper.

Buckstop's Baja version front bumper for a Dodge also comes in at 190 lbs more than the stock bumper. The Warn 16.5ti winch is the highest capacity winch Warn offers, and it weighs in at 138 lbs. Combined, this adds up to 328 lbs over the stock bumper (which I don't know what that weighs off hand).

Do these bumpers really keep you safer in an accident?

If you are referring to an accident involving another vehicle, I don't think anyone has made the case that you would be safer per se with a Buckstop bumper (although with the additional mass and strength of design, a smaller and less massive vehicle with a typical front bumper from the factory could be theoretically worse for the wear in a front-end collision). The "accident" these bumpers get their claim to fame for is that of accidentally hitting deer on the road (hence their Buckstop name). People who own these pretty beefy bumpers have claimed little or no damage to the bumper after collisions with deer and similar animals.
