Love my FW, but hate the curtains. I have the ones that are like a shade that up pull up to get a transparent view. Would like to get just regular shade and curtain, but decided to wait till most get damaged (from dog) are they get dingy.
Well now is the time... Any suggestions where to buy and how to install regular curtains and shades made for a RV?
Thanks

I have had quite a few RVs and I like my current curtain setup better than any. They are simply a standard house drape with an opaque liner. During daytime, little light gets in. Very nice for when you want to sleep in. While in the bluebird there are electric actuators, manual ones would work just fine.
You need to explain better what you're after.....but visiting almost any box store will let you see much of the the variety----home furnishing stores, too...same thing if you google curtains & shades---I've never seen anything made JUST for RVs....you may run into problems with your valances(if you have them) not having enough room to accommodate both shades and curtains that I'm familiar with. That's why I went with top-down/bottom-up/light-blocking cellular shades.

We replaced our day/night shades with MCD duo roller shades. Which is a mesh day shade and white block out shade on the same mechanism. You can see some pics of ours here.
We bought ours direct from MCD but I noticed you can now buy these thru Bradd and Hall.
We love them but they are not cheap. Lucky for us we got in on a OTO deal last year they were offering Tiffin owners. You can also buy RV shades from Camping world -- or I've read several folks have just bought mini blinds or shades thru Home Depot. I'm sure you can find something to fit at a local home improvement store though you may have to order it.

Are you making reference to those famous - Day/Night shades?
The ones that have a 2 part pull down - 1 gives you some curtain but some light too and the other part pulls down and gives you privacy.
If that is what you have - you are like the rest of us. Hate them.
But have not figured out what I can possibly replace them with yet - otherwise they would be replaced by now.
God Bless

We just replaced all of our day night shades with off the shelf venetian blinds from Home Depot. I didn't even have to have them cut to fit. I did have to remove excess slats and retie the bottoms of course. To resolve the mounting issue I bought some 1x3 board and cut them to fit the inside of the valance which were not removable without major surgery. I mounted the new shades to the board and then had enough room at each end of the board to run screws through after pre-drilling them. The shades are quiet, block more light, and let air in when a window is open while allowing privacy. It took about a day to change all of them out.

We absolutely DO NOT HATE our day/night shades. They are terrific! However, I am certain that there is a difference in quality within the manufacturers and levels of TT. Ours have functioned perfectly from the first day, have required no adjustments, have not been an issue with our traveling cat, block out the early morning light, allow fresh air in, provide appropriate privacy, etc. They are made of high-quality materials and are showing no signs of losing their shape, fading, dirt, or wear of any kind. On the other hand, friends of ours recently purchased a brand new Salem, and the day/night shades on their TT are junk, IMO. Like every product, it's all about the quality.
We had mini-blinds on our TT for more than 10 years, so I feel qualified to make a valid comparison. I would never go back to mini-blinds.
Please speak for yourself and let the "rest of us" speak for ourselves.
You referred to curtains, but do you mean day/night shades? If you mean shades about the only option is the venetian blinds. I had a motorhome that had these on all windows. The thing I didn't like about them was they rattle like all get out while traveling. This may not be an issue with you since you don't ride in the FW while traveling. Another issue is the day/night shades tend to be much better with respect to insulating out the cold and maybe even heat. Especially the thicker night section.

You mention the quality if the RV making a difference. We have a Holiday Rambler, is that considered a quality brand? We sure thought so when we bought and was one of the main reasons we did. Our Day/Night blinds are junk, as well as many of the other items they put in it.
Oh, we hate ours too and I don't mind the comment by sepisllib. I think he might have been just speaking in general and not directly for you, so take a deep breath and relax.

I was speaking of the quality of the shades, not the RV manufacturer.
As for the relaxing, I'm a pretty laid-back person. I just get weary of people who think that their opinion speaks for everyone. If you agree with sepisllib, that's terrific. Maybe, if I agreed too, I wouldn't mind the comment either. "Speaking in general" is fine as long as it leaves room for the other side.
