I have a leak coming from up high in the fridge area. Some water leaks inside the freezer itself, from the bottom of the icemaker, and some drips down and eventually ends up on the floor in the kitchen. Can the icemaker be taken out from inside and inspected?

Sounds like a leak in the supply line

Yeah, thats what I think, but it's too high to get to from outside the coach, and maybe I can get to it if I remove the icemaker.

Mr. Branman,
I recently had the exact same leak. Mine also was on a Bounder. Not that that makes any real difference. A slight difference though, my ice maker quit making cubes. It took a little Sherlock Holms investigating though. I could manually cycle the system and hear the pump and solenoid working but, NO WATER into the ice tray. So, off to the back of the fridge I went, Yep, a big leak coming down from the supply line. Well, the only recourse I had, since I do all the repairs on my stuff, was to pull the fridge. All I could do was disconnect all the components, gas, electric, water etc and take out all the mounting screws and slide the fridge to the hallway on some blocks.
From there I uncovered the supply line and found it cracked and brittle all the way up to and into the ice maker opening at the top. Along side it was the "heater" line. I sent out smoke signals here on this net and was promptly answered with "Mine too, Mine too, Mine too". It appears that many people have had the same problem. If yours is this problem, the fix is incredibly simple. All I did was run off to the local hardware store and buy about 4-5' of 1/4" plastic ice maker line and replace the bad stuff. Some of the guys on here have used copper for the replacement. That will work too. Anyway, I reinstalled the heater line, re-insulated the whole system, and put the fridge back and all is well. I even re-adjusted the "ice cube size" when it was out. It produces a little bigger I cubes than originally.
I hope this helps some. Good luck.

Don't know if it is a Dometic or Norcold but on my Dometic I had to pull the whole refer box into the coach to get to the fitting at the back of the icemaker. I don't think there is any way to pull the icemaker and still get to that fitting.
On the bright side, it only has 6 screws to pull on the inside after you disconnect everything on the back side of the refer. We just took a milk crate and two of us were able to slide it out and onto the milk crate where it was easy to get to the water line.

You say yours leaks inside and outside the refrigerator. This puzzles my as far as it being the water line. The waterline doesn’t go inside the refrigerator. It attaches to a fitting on the outside if the refrigerator. All the previous posts are right on as far as an outside leak. The heater wire that runs along side the water line cooks the line and destroys it. Mine needs replacing too. Since my refrigerator is a double door side by side that weighs 280#, I don’t plan on pulling it. My plan is to remove the vent cap and screen to access the connection at the top and drop a new line down the back. Also, the heater wire is unnecessary unless you PARK the RV where it will freeze. It is OK to camp in freezing weather because the refrigerator produces enough heat itself that the line won’t freeze.

Wow, good info here. Didnt think about going in from the top, I have the double-door unit also. If i do have to remove the fridge, what is the process for disconnecting the LP gas line so it doesnt leak? Can I just turn the main emergency switch off?

I had the same problem and as with others the heater wire had cooked the tygon tubing. I was able to pull my freg ahead, tipping it forward enough to reach the top tubing connector without actually removing the freg. After I finished the job it occured to me I could have done the job by removing the top vent (as others have suggested). I disabled the heater as I winter in Florida. No need to cook the line again.

Let us know if this is your problem.

you could also just shut off the feed line and be done with it forever. leaking ice maker lines are a major threat to the floor, an undetected leak can cause serious damage, sidewall delam, and musty smells.

I've removed the 4 screws on the front top and bottom and 3 from the rear base. The problem is I still can't get the frig to slide. It's a side by side dometic in a 2001 discovery. Any suggestions? Thanks.
