Took the cover off my generator today so I could clean out the cooling fins etc.
Upon removing the cover I noticed a spring up top not attached at either end. The spring is probably 8" long and a thin control rod runs through the middle of it. One end of the rod looks like it goes to the carburetor and the other end to a lever on a governor(??)
Neither end of the spring was attached and there are no obvious places to connect it.
The generator seems to be working fine. Sorry I don't have photos.
Can anybody tell me how it's supposed to be connected?
Looked for a diagram or photo that might show it, but had no luck.
On my Microquiet 400 there are two linkage rods that control the throttle and the choke. They cross over each other and the rod that controls the throttle also has the spring like you described. It connects at the throttle linkage, in the same hole as the rod. I just had my carb off and wondered what purpose that spring has. I just checked a picture I took and that spring does connect at both ends of the throttle linkage rod. Maybe it is just a back-up if the rod breaks???

It will hook into the same holes as the rod does. This spring keeps tension on the governor rod and as stated above and in simple terms, keeps the high RPM's constant and prevents it from surging.
