It's only $2.01 a gallon today. Wife uses the truck as a daily driver when not hooked to the trailer so we go through 140 gallons per month. I've read you can only bring back 119 gallons but that with 25 in the tank and I'm good for the month. A larger tank has been needed anyway for trips.
It's an hour round trip with perfect conditions. Since there are more murders in TJ than Baghdad I would go for the Otay Mesa crossing.
Am I missing something? This seems too easy.

Im not sure of the quality of there diesel. I was also thinking of to buy fuel there. I live in Hemet so it would be a little farther trip but might be worth it at that price. Let us know if it work out for you.

A contractor I work with fills up in down south but does not go just to fill up. He has family there so doesn't go just to fill up but swears by the better deal he gets and has an extra tank on his Dodge Ram to make it more worth it.

Its about $12 or so per day.
You need a passport of birth certificate to get back into the states without getting hassled...otherewise I would have filled up a few weeks back.
It's LSD and not ULSD so the guys with new trucks need to keep that in mind.

Hmm.. didn't know there was a war going on down there, except maybe with the drug lords.
I had a customer call me about enlarging the fuel tank in his car cause he goes down to TJ to buy fuel cheaper. He said he couldn't use an aftermarket tank cause the Border Patrol was not allowing cars with aftermarket tanks to come into the US. I don't know what the reason for that is or even how true it is, but that's what he said.
He wanted me to chop up his factory tank and add in a section from another factory tank so it would be bigger, but look like a factory tank to the un-trained eye so he could come through the border without problems. I declined the job as I don't do used fuel tank repair, but thought it was an odd request.
