IMHO, Meijer Gardens and the Air Zoo are both regional attractions that are certainly worth a visit. Windmill Island is not in the same league. It might be a place to visit if you didn't want to venture out, but if you're willing to make a couple of drives, the other two are much more of an attraction. You might also check the concert schedule at Meijer Gardens if that sort of thing interests you.

I don't see a trip to Fricano's on your list.
It is now! Thanks for the advice.

Thanks, Eric, this is the kind of info I was looking for. We don't mind spending a few extra minutes on the road if it's worth the trip.

Definately visit Captain Sundaes for incrediable icecream treats! It's on Ottawa Beach Road on your way to the state park. Their "Tommy Turtle" is worth every single calorie. If you do go to the Air Zoo, Binder Park Zoo is not far away and is our favorite small zoo. You can feed the giraffes at their eye level! If you'd like an upscale eatery, Via Maries downtown is excellent. You would not be out of place in casual attire. Their menu changes daily but is always delightful. Have fun!
