I was thinking of getting off 95 onto Route 40 in NC, picking up US-17 south to Myrtle beach, SC. I am pulling a 32' fifth wheel. Is this a decent route to take? Or should I stay on 95 further south of Route 40?

Our Dodge Dually pulling our 35' Nuwa Hitchhiker takes a different route from our home in Pennsylvania. We get off RT 95 at South of the Border and take Rt 501 straight into MB. Some 2 lane, some 4 lane, a few traffic lights but wouldn't take any other way............until they build a 4 lane in the year what...2076?

Have done the Interstate 40 to Wilmington, NC then US Route 17 to MB and found it to be a fine route to take. The travel time did not seem to be much different from taking exit 181 off of I 95 onto SC route 38 to US 501, or taking US 301/501 from Pedro's place {both also fine routes}. Take one route to MB and another from MB and determine which route you prefer. Enjoy the MB area.

Going to South Mytrle (Ocean Lakes, Lakewood, Pirate Land) or North Myrtle (Apache, MB Travel Park)? If South MB. Do the 501 thing. If North MB. Run 95 to 74, To 410 to 701 to 9 to 31 to 22, and in to the CG.

We have gone down the Eastern Shore of Virginia ,into Virginia Beach then to Chesapeake down RT17 to Myrtle Beach. Great ride and avoids the interstate.

Should have told you. When you get off 95 at 74. It is the future I-74. Super highway to 410. From there. It is 2 lane to # 9, About 30 miles. Good road, only a few traffic lights. I'm thinkin 4. Very little traffic though. From 9 to the Myrtle Beach Travel Park. It is 4 lane, and you don't even have to get on 17. Just cross over it, and right onto the road that MBTP is on. We use it when we go to NMB.

Tallyo,

Shhhh, don't let the secret out about the easiest and quickest way up and down the East Coast. HWY 17 is so relaxing and un-crowded if you tell everyone about it will be just like every other road on the East Coast.
