I do not understand your post. How does having more stations affect the supply?? Why should they keep pumping for foreigners?? Mexican fuel is subsidized by the Mexican government. They are not obligated to extend this subsidy to foreigners. Would not surprise me if they went to a 2 price system. Or rations. Rocmoc: This is all your fault. You bought too much fuel!!!

Moisheh,
I couldn't agree with you more. With about a $3 difference in the price of diesel SOB it was only a matter of time before market forces dictated (Greed). Don't know how the diesel is holding up in your part of the world, are you in (AZ./TX-MX. border towns?) in TJ, Ensenada, & Mexicali what little diesel is left is being rationed to local public transportation companies. There are many independent truckers that have been sleeping in their cabs for days, parked in Pemex stations waiting to fuel up. Sort of reminds me of the 70's when we went to odd/even days in order to purchase rationed gasoline. The scuttlebutt is that a ship is due to arrive Monday in Rosarito to replenish the Pemex stations. What, if any sales limitations will be implemented needs to be seen. I'd hate to be camping in San Felipe or El Golfo with my DP's tank on empty.
More drama to follow, guaranteed!

I am at a loss to understand the (GREED) part of your quote. Could you please explain your statement to us.
Are you saying that there is plenty of raw crude to go around to everybody in the world and that it is (GREED) that is causing world oil prices to rise?
Or are you saying that it is (GREED) when people want to save money and have something left to pay for other things for their family?
I have read the articles here that have spotlighted the current and upcomming problems with Pemex. Sadly it looks like a comming train wreck for Mexico! (And probably the US if we don't start drilling fast!)

Sonora,
Happy to oblige!
As to the world's raw crude supply as it relates to Pemex, this is way above my paygrade so I won't go there.
As to the local picture, I don't have an issue with people heading SOB purchasing 25-100 gallons of diesel for personal use. It is another when truckers crossing daily, top off their 300+ gallon tanks & resell the diesel fuel in the US. I don't think this alone is what caused the shortage but my 2 cents is that it's an abusive practice & all of us are going to "pay the piper." Pemex indicated diesel fuel sales started rising June 13 & they were unable to meet the demand at stations near the border & cascaded south. The sales influx is attributed to north of the border visitors.
Moisheh,
Happy to accept my mission as long as my laptop does not disintegrate in 60 seconds.
The local fish wrap is reporting the long awaited fuel ship arrived this morning in Rosarito & is currently being unloaded. Allegedly,
most gas stations should return to normal operations by Wednesday.

Moisheh, not my fault. We are up in Colorado paying full price. Ouch! Hurts every time a tank runs dry.
When I have been at the Pemex I use and have been using for a couple of years, I have never seen anyone else there but Mexican Locals. My hope is since I was a customer before this fuel crisis and all the attendants know me, they will view me as a local. Plus I have tipped well for the last couple of years. I will be going over next week when we return home. Will see if there are any changes.
Travel safe everyone!

Ironic isn't it? Now it appears, things are the other way around. Now everyone wants to come here. I wonder what Belize is like?

Belize has always been a lot higher than Mexico. At one time several years ago you could buy untaxed fuel in the free zone between Belize and Mexico, there were lots of Mexican cars going across then to buy gas. I think they stopped that. When gas in Mexico was in the $1.50us a gallon range, it was $3 or $4 a gallon in Belize.
We pay a lot less for gas here in Quintana Roo, currently we are paying around 6.80p a liter and it is over 7 in neighboring states. I believe it is due to the 10% IVA here vs 15% in the rest of the Republic or it could be due to the border, I've never gotten a clear picture on the why.

I will bet most or all do not have Mexican Auto Insurance. Wait until something happens and someone is thrown in Jail because they don't have insurance. Then you will really see the News Stories.
I don't see the logic if you purchase insurance and spend HOURS just for a hundred bucks. My time is worth money and when I waste it, it is not sitting in a line.
