Just returned home from a week-end in Ocean City, MD. On the way down Thursday night we were 12 miles from the campground and *POP*! I slowed down and eased to the shoulder. I had TWO flats. Right front tire was slack but intact. Right rear was the blow-out. I was fortunate enough to have a local fellow stop and help me. "Ron the roofer" stopped and said I live right up the road I'll go home and bring back a floor jack. He helped me change the blow out and then I limped to his house to air-up the slack tire. We made it to Frontier Town just in time for the tire to go slack again. I went to a tire shop Ron recommended. They mounted a new tire. After pulling the slack tire I found that the tread had seperated. There was a hole big enough to put my thumb in between the tread and the shoulder of the tire. Before the gallery turns up the heat...I checked the air in all tires on both the tow vehicle and the trailer just before leaving. In all we were lucky. No injuries. We losy a trim ring, some sheetmetal at the wheel well and mangled the underside of the wheel well. I'll start shopping for a matched set of good American made tires tommorow. Any suggestions? I recently had to replace a Goodyear tire and ended up with a Carlisle in an emergency. The tire dealer said `all of the RV tires are now made in China' including the Goodyear Marathons.
I seem to remember checking with Michelin and they don't make an equivalent tire (ST225/75/R15).

your in luck. You already have 16" trailer wheels so all thats necessary is mounting some 16" LT E's that are recommended for trailer use. Someone says a G (110 psi) load range but your wheels are probably only 80 psi rated. The Michelin XPS Rib LT235/85-16 E without a doubt will be the best tire for that heavy trailer. Along with the XPS Rib and the BFG Commercial LTs is the Firestone Transforce HT E tire/the Uniroyal Laredo HD-H LT E and the Bridgestone R-250 which is a steel ply carcass just like the XPS Rib tire. The Goodyear Wrangler HT 16" E and Cooper dealer near me says his commercial hauling customers have had good luck with Coopers Discoverer HT on their heavy loaded trailers. Lots to choose from in a 16" E tire for trailer use.

You might check Maxxis but you'll find just about all tires in 15" are now made in China.

The Denmans are made in Mexico- ST225/75/R15 D weight- just bought 4 of these for my 5er. Replaced Duros made in china which had splits on the sidewalls at 5700 miles.
