Hi
I've had Atwoods and Barker Super Jacks, I like the Barker 3500 Super Jack the best, lots of torque, plenty of strength.

One inexpensive option is putting your existing jacks up and down with a cordless power drill. I use my Makita and it works slick.

Most any jack will work pretty well as long as you get one with enough capacity to lift your tow vehicle and trailer tongue. Usually a minimum of around 3,000 lb. and 3500 for larger trailers will suffice. As long as it lifts the combined unit that's about all you can ask for and anything less is totally unacceptable.

I agree with Skip (again )that if you buy a brand name jack (Atwood, Ultrafab, Barker) that is the proper size for your rig you can't go wrong. We had a Atwood 3500 on our 27BH Jayco and transferred it to the current 314BHDS Jayco so also consider possible future upgrades.
Enjoy !

My input is about the same as the others here. Get a bigger jack than you need in anticipation of a possible trailer upgrade. Better to have it and not need it than vice versa.
Mine is an UltraFab 3500. Three bolt installation and one wire to the (+) battery terminal and you're in business. I also use an 18v cordless drill for my stabilizers. No more cranking in 100°F temps for me.

I too want to get a 3,500lb jack. I have a heavy tongue weight, combined with my 2500HD truck bed loaded with stuff. I need a strong jack to lift all of it up when I'm hooking up the WD spring bars etc....
Are all of the jacks "universal" when it comes to fitting them on trailer tongues? If not, how do you know which jack will fit your tt tongue?
Thanks.

The jacks come in different weight capacities, and 2 different tube sizes. IMHO, get the largest weight capacity. You are not just lifting your TT tongue, you are lifting the rear end of your TV. The tube sizes are 2" and 2 1/4". I have the UltraFab 3500, it has the 2 1/4 tube and my trailer had a 2" hole. When I went to install, I used a 1 1/2 drum sander on my drill and made the hole larger. Total install time less than an hour.

Go with Barker which is American made and not made in china. Barker backs theirs up even after warrantee ends. Barker 3000 deluxe is a good pick for the money. Good luck

I purchased the Barker for the same reasons JTCR mentioned - reputation, made in USA. I purchased the 3500 in case I want to go with a heavier TT at some point. I did have one problem - the bolt plate on the Barker was round, but the old, manual jack had a triangular shaped bolt plate. I removed the old jack - 3 bolts, no problem. I took out my shiny new Barker VIP 3500 and slipped it down in the hole. Everything was just fine until the new jack stopped about 1" before the bolt plate rested on the frame. The reason - the Barker's round plate overlapped the tray that the TT battery sits in. I ended up grinding off about 1'4" of the bolt plate and it fit like a glove. Moral of the story - either make sure the bolt plate of whatever you purchase is the same as your existing manual jack or be prepared to perform a little "surgery". By the way, I love my 3500. Between that and the cordless drill for the stablizers, I've almost eliminated sweating from the set-up and tear-down. If I lost a few lbs I could be sweat-free...naaah, that would mean I'd have to give up beer!!
