If he's a redneck he needs an old overstuffed chair and a fridge full of beer on his porch.

Did you notice the Happijac buttons on the rear bumper and the hitch extension? He is a true TC enthusiast..

Excuse me, perhaps I am being oversensitive, but why the snark? Except for the economics involved I'd venture to say this individual has at least some of the core beliefs we all share. When did American Ingenuity in the face of lack of funds become worthy of disdain? I'd also bet that parked next to a lake or some such other place we all seek, that porch offers a mighty fine place to enjoy one's favorite morning- or evening beverage......

I started this thread in the tradition on the RV.net TC forum of posting pics of off-the-beaten-path or otherwise odd truck campers from a visual perspective. No disparagement was offered or intended (at least by me). We passed this fellow along a lower section of the Rio Grande the day before, and I didn't get a chance to snap a pic, but the deck, balcony, and truck shell definitely caught my eye. The owner was fishing the river and when he moved up river the next day (to where we were going), he was fishing down below where he was parked alongside the road (where I took the pics).

While I personally would not want to trade my camper for his, we felt he was enjoying himself, was camping & fishing in a very beautiful area, and was in fact a "TCer". Clearly, he has ended up with a unique "camper" and it cost him a fraction of what our commercially derived campers did.

Very interesting indeed Silver. I see that the guy put an "addition" on the rear and apparently modified the cab-over section. However, it is that forward vent (and particularly the vent "cover") that is most interesting to me.

That rear door appeared to be a full-sized/height 34-inch job, stained and varnished. I recon if the owner was 400 LBS, he's easily be able to enter/exit with not so much as a twist

...additionally, his solar accouterments were unbelievable. Probably $3000 at least sunk into it!

I think the original camper in this thread is fantastic - if it doesn't leak! If anyone ever runs into this person tell him great job from roadrunner65.

I love it! More power to the builders! Re the first TC: I think that Henry Ford would be proud of the ingenuity of one of his trucks owners. Henry Ford and Thomas Edison used to go camping; but I think that they used pull behinds. Never made the quantum leap to TC's.

In the same vein; when I was growing up (8 years old or so) in Durand, Michigan, there was an old gambler, Paul Stage, that had a house (TC) built on an old Model T truck. (I would guess a one ton or so.) It actually was more of a small "super C" than a TC. He would go from fair to fair and run a Roulette Wheel from the "back porch" of his "Super C" or maybe I should say "super T".

Ha,
Kurt
