I am taking the family to the White Mountains for a week and cannot decide which campground to stay at. Right now we have it down to 3, Canyon Point outside of Payson. Fools Hollow in Show Low. Or Rainbow campground at Big Lake. I am leaning towards Rainbow as I have heard that seeing wildlife like Turkeys, Antelope, Deer, and Elk are very common. Anyone have any other suggestions? Oh yeah we have a 29' travel trailer, so I know that limits where we can stay.

Envious here !

Lived in AZ in the 70's for 5 years. Spent many nights at Canyon Point, very nice then.

We also used to go on up on the Apache eservationms and camp. In those days it was primitive camping. The cost was 1 or 2 dollars a night.

Try Rock Crossing by Blue Ridge resevoir up 87 just north of Clint Wells. No hook ups but very nice campground. Morman Lake Lodge and Happy Jack or not bad for full hook-ups. We like Fools Hollow as well. Also can boondock in Coconino Forest
