Already have the balloon ride scheduled and can't wait! DH doesn't want to do the Pink Jeep and get jostled around...we're probably going to do some driving of our rent car to see various things, but I know that we can't go where the Pink Jeeps go. We're at the airport now waiting to board our flight to Phoenix. Will keep everyone posted.

We really enjoyed out trip to Sedona, Az. We stayed at Thousand Trails Resort at Verde Valley near Cottonwood, but toured all around the area. Drove to the Indian Ruins in our toad (not recommended. Back roads are terrible with boulders etc. Drove real careful and slow and made it ok. Coming back into town after dark, came upon a young couple that had busted the oil pan in their rental car and locked the engine up. Way out in the middle of nowhere, scarred to death. We used our cell phone to call tow truck and gave them the GPS coordinates. Would you believe they would not come out past paved roads.
We gave them a ride into town to their motel, so don't know what ever happened to the car. Anyway, be careful if you drive out in boondocks.
We were there in January, so had snow in the pass up toward Flagstaff. Beautiful!!! You will not run out of things to see and do there. We were so impressed, that we will be going back this year, only we plan on staying three weeks this time.
One comical thing was the salesman for one of the timeshare. We only took it to get free dinner tickets. He started that high pressure sales pitch and I showed him documented proof that our timeshare in Branson was rated way higher than his, and we could trade weeks anytime we wanted to into his. He just gave us our tickets and said have a good day. Does me good to shut his kind up.

WE'RE IN SEDONA! Got here yesterday afternoon and ck'ed. into a motel for 1 night till we can get in our condo today. (Long story). We stayed at The Views for the 1 night and thank God it was only 1 night! Overall the motel is great except for the bed. HARD...but I was so exhausted I did sleep sorta well, but ONLY because I was exhausted. Had to get up at 2 AM to get to the airport by 4 AM to catch a 6 AM flight and the airlines desk doesn't even open up till 4:30 AM. Naturally we wanted to be there in plenty of time, so we got there at 3:30 AM! So we waited at the airport, got our tickets, flew on NW Airlines from San Antonio to MEMPHIS (it's their hub, but it's stupid...) to turn around and fly back to Phoenix, get a rent car and then drive to Sedona. Had to take some No Doz to make the drive. Took a nap on the hard bed, got up and went to dinner. Where to eat? OH! Go to the Airport cafe at the airport in Sedona - beautiful views while you eat....WHATEVER! Report on the views - we ate outside and the views were on the other side of the building that we couldn't see. But that's ok, we had great views coming up and that wasn't the problem. The FOOD was the problem. All you can eat King Crab (WHY did DH order crab this far inland? Who knows...) think rubber...My steak...think very tough and dry...definately not medium as ordered and shoe leather...DH couldn't even crack his crab - it bent in half...I took 1 bite of my steak and had to spit it out - couldn't chew it. We told the mgr. that we wouldn't pay those prices ($27.95 & 25.00 respectively) for the meal and why, just bring us a ticket for our drinks - 1 glass of wine and 1 margarita. She apologized and brought us a ticket....she should have compted them, but didn't...but that's ok, we didn't mind paying. So on the drive down from the mountain we stopped and watched the sunset over the red rocks and took some pix and it was gorgeous...and I get nauseated....corn chowder instead of salad for dinner...it it that? Hmmmm...don't know, but DH had the salad and I had the corn chowder...I'm sick,he's not. Do I recommend the restaurant at the airport...no. Do I recommend coming to Sedona? ABSOLUTELY! GORGEOUS! Moving out of the motel this morning and into the condo and driving around to get the views. Will update after taking thee balloon ride, train ride and water raft trip. I'll try to be shorter next time! Oh...heat? 88 degrees...San Antonio...99 degrees. It's cooler here...in more ways than 1!
For something a little different in Sedona, I suggest a visit to the Chapel of the Holy Cross. It's architecture beautifully blends into the red rocks. It belongs to the Roman Catholic diocese, and is open to the public (no masses are held there--I believe it is just for meditation). A nice quiet place in a beautiful setting, a contrast to the prevailing spirituality in the area (I'm biting my tongue), and well-worth the trip if you are there.

Oh, we intend to! My tongue's bleedin' too...
We rafted a 1/2 day trip down Glen Canyon yesterday and it was gorgous...quiet water, slow and easy, great guide (Rico), young 21 yr. old college student that made it very interesting. Tomorrow we catch thee train from Williams to the Grand Canyon and back...will have 4 hrs. there to tour the rim and hotels. Been to the Canyon years ago, so we know the drill...Tues...Hot Air Balloon!
UPDATE ON OUR SEDONA TRIP: DO go to Sedona! It's gorgeous. The train ride was fun - strolling banjo and guitar players, a train robbery on the way back - all in period costume of course. The robbers rode horses, they stopped the train to let them on (safety first of course!) Lots of fun riding in the coach with drinks and snacks. The Grand Canyon is Grand of course and beautiful.
Hot Air Balloon Ride: Fantastic! Do it...very safe - We went with Northern Lights 100% safety record. Very smooth, quiet and hot with the fire.
Temperature: 113 - drink lots of liquids
Best thing we did in Sedona was to go to Slide Rock State Park - $10 a carload and we swam in the cool water and had a blast. Cheap and fun!
