1. Definitely take a Pink Jeep Tour (the original ... don't settle for the Hummer tour or the other knock-offs)
2. Take a helicopter ride around the red rocks. The airport is on top of a mesa, and it is an extreme rush to have the ground drop away when you take off! Money well spent.
Watch out for the Time-Share pushers ... they are EVERYWHERE in Sedona. If a sign say "FREE (anything)", guaranteed its a time share. And they are extremely pushy ...once they get you, they fight real hard to keep you there. Sedona actually has a law that you can file a complaint after a certain amount of time they press you. I filed a complaint with the police after one pusher just would not take no thank you for an answer... the booth was shut down the next day.

The Pink Jeep Tour is for wimps. Take the Hummer tour. It goes where Jeeps can't. I'd also recommend climbing a vortex to see if you can feel the "energy". I won't put any preconceived notions in your head.
Life is too short to spend it all in one place!

We are fortunate to live close enuf to Sedona to visit as we choose. We stay at Camp Verde as the rv parks there are much better - we prefer Distant Drums.
Sedona has been a huge traffic mess for a long time and now they have lots of road construction as well. Allow lots of time to get places.
We go mainly for the hiking and photo work but there are things to do - just bring plenty of money; it is a very expensive place. We choose to drive where the Pink Jeeps and Hummers go; we can get most of the places they can.
If you get away from it a bit you should head up to Jerome and also all the various Indian Ruins - Turzigoot is one of our favorites. Also get to Montezuma Well and Montezuma Castle.

While you're there and you get hungry, there is a great Mexican restaurant we ate at several years ago. I tried to find the picture we took but haven't found it yet. It is something related to "Oaxaca". Great views too!
We stayed outside the town in the forest. We had a great camphost who had a lot of humming bird feeders and the birds feasted all day long.

Bill decided that he doesn't want to be jostled around in a Pink Jeep so since this trip is his call, I'm trying to go BIG - for Father's Day. We want to try and get on the Grand Canyon Railway with the Bubble on top. So far it's a no go - no openings - maybe there will be a cancellation.
This is one of those dream trips that we all dream about - at least those of us who have been busy raising 4 kids and putting ourselves on the back burner our whole LIFE. After 40 yrss. I think it's about time we spent some of the money on US...that's why we're doing 3 big things. Just so ya know...

Just remember that it is HOT this time of year...please keep that in mind when planning your activities. There are some great suggestions already made. The Verde Canyon railroad is very nice and has AC- go for the upgraded car. Glen Canyon is a LONG way to go from Sedona, you may need to stay up there. Jerome is an interesting place to visit...eat at the Haunted Hamburger at the top of the stairs. Flagstaff is a great place this time of year- much cooler (temps)than Sedona!

Thanks for the tips. The Glen Canyon run is a 1 day excursion - pick up at the condo and drop back off. Long day, 12 hr. day, but should be fun. Next day we lay around the pool and rest up!
