Hi all.
Now that dirt riding season is over up here. we are looking for some ideas for places to camp for the summer season.
We love the WW fiver but I know that it being 35feet long we will be limited as to where we will fit.
We usually head up to Lake Almanor but are wondering if you know of any other places within 4 hours of the bay area.
We do not mind Lake or Forest. Just have two dogs and a toddler and like to hike, bike etc.
Prefer national forest camping(usually cooler temps), and of course has to be able to get 35feet of camper in.
That is the one thing I miss about our old 22"WW, we could just about go anywhere and fit.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

What about Lake Barriessa? I've heard it's very nice.

I like Almanor too, rented a house there once.

Why is the riding season over? The snow has just melted in some great high country riding areas. We usually hit NV a few times during summer break, temps not so bad at 4500ft + elevation.

Halfmoon Bay State Beach is a place we go often, I know that sites 20 and up will fit a 35 foot trailer. A large trailer pretty much limits where you can go in the National and State forests, 22 ft OAL is usually the limit for most campgrounds. We have scouted a lot of campgrounds in lthe Sierras that allow longer trailers BUT the roadways in the campground are not TH friendly, too many low branches.

Lake Bariessa is great if you have a boat.(we don't)
Its about an hour away from us and gets very hot, hence the need for a boat.
Our friends who boat and camp up there told us that the camper is too big for the campground there.
We are trying to find somewhere to get away from the heat also.(I know a tall order this time of year)
If nothing pans out we will most likely head back to Almanor(It is guaranteed to be low 80's)
We did camp "sly park" last summer, difficult to fit, hot and swarms of wasps(yellow jackets) which put me off. on the plus side it was about only two hours drive away, and we did find a hiking trail which was nice.

You can come up to WA state. Our riding season has just barely begun with all the snow we have in the mountains.

Dillion Beach near Bodega Bay is a lot of fun. Open camping, sand dunes and a lot of other things to do. Tempatures are good as well.

Would love to go to WA, but I don't think 4 days is long enough
Am looking forward to October already to ride again.

And your name is "crazyted"........
Rather you than me, I lived in the south for a couple of years and between the humidity and the mosquitoes, I just about died.....(but then again I come from Ireland and anything above 75 degrees is hot)

Where in NV do you summer camp?. We only have 4 days this time. We did take your advice and go to Walker river in April. We stayed a Wilson Canyon for 3 nights (only one other camper there) and then stayed one night at Walker river resort. We had a blast and thank you for the advice. We will be going back there later.
