We have a new Jayco 29X travel trailer and are unable to run a/c and micro at the same time.
It takes about 30 seconds with both running and we blow the rv park breaker or a breaker within the RV.
Is this normal??
Much appreciated..

If you have 30 amp, not much you can do but, turn off a/c while using micro

30 amps at 120v is only 3600 watts. If you have a larger A/C unit, there just isn't enough power available to run them both.

I'm not sure how to fix your problem because I believe it has something to do with how the trailer itself is wired. When we had our Rockwood Roo I was always popping the 30 amp by running two things at a time - electric heater and toaster, A/C and microwave, electric heater and hair dryer. But, we traded the Roo for our Captiva and I have not had a problem since. We can now run the A/C and microwave at the same time. I have never popped the breaker in the Captiva and it is also 30 amps. It must have something to do with how the power is shared throughout the camper.

I can't see how just those two would throw the pedestal 30A breaker and if this is the first time you have had this problem there might be an issue with the pedestal breaker. If you are throwing the internal TT breaker then see if they are both on the same circuit. Turn on A/C and pop each breaker till the A/C goes off. Turn off A/C reset breaker, turn on Microwave and repeat. My current 30A trailer has the normal 30A main breaker and then separate breakers 20A for A/C, and separate 15A for the electric WH, 120V outlets, Microwave, and even on for the refer.

Your air will draw a few extra amps if the voltage is low.
Have you measured voltage in the RV with both running?
Is the fridge and water on propane only?
Did you just plug in with low battery?

For under $20 you can buy a plug in AC line monitor. Plug it into a visible wall outlet and check the voltage you are getting IN your RV. You may be starting with inadequate voltage. Many parks have inadequate voltage to carry summer demands.

That is good to know. My microwave kept kicking the breaker this weekend also. Maybe it was just like you said about many parks having inadequate voltage. Everyone had AC's hammering this weekend because it was so hot here in Maryland.

My starwood did the same thing. My dealer said it was the campground. If the facility is rather full, and the hook up is sort of outdated, then the trailer may not be getting all the power it needs. So when it kicks a breaker, it is the trailer own little way of protecting itself. I kind of believe what he said was true, because nicer more modern campground that I went to never had a problem.

Ohms law. The lower the voltage the higher the amperage the more times you will trip your breaker when running heavy loads in your trailer.
