Yes we traded vehicles and stopped using a tow dolly.
Bought a truck that can be towed 4 down, so we looked at several different possible variations. We bought the Ready Brute towbar with the built in supplemental braking system. I dealt with Tod Westervelt at Night Shift Auto, in Iola Kansas. He was very good to work with and very helpful.
He also ordered us a Blue Ox baseplate and he made all the arrangements and had another company 3 miles down the road install the entire system to include some independent taillight, brakelight and turn signals inside the trucks tail light assembly. This way they work off of the motor homes lighting system and not the trucks.
We are only about 130 miles from where Night Shift Auto is located so it was convienent for us to go there for the pick up and installation.

We have since used it to tow the truck about 5,000 miles since last September and it has worked just fabulous.
With it you do not have to have a seperate and costly braking system.
It activates the trucks own brakes. They work great and are easy to adjust. It also has a feature which is a light that is mounted on the MH's dash and it lights up when the brakes are activated, so you can tell when they are being applied. It has several different built in safety features.

The towbar is very simple and easy to hook up and folds back out of the way when not in use.

Our towbar was $820. The baseplate was $395. Wiring harness and the light sockets and bulbs were $76. Shipping was $12. Then the installation was a little less than $550. So for Just about $1850.
we were road ready.

We could have actually gotten by a little cheaper but the DW wanted for the base plate to not be as evident or obnoxious as some that you see, so we got one that was a little bit more costly, but it is almost consealed.

Give Tod a call at 1-800-933-3372 and I am sure that he will give you very good assistance.

PM me if you have any other questions.

Good luck, Larry

I am going to install the ready brake (and tow bar) to attach my Honda Fit to my MH. This system seems to be a more logical solution to the problem of "toad" braking. Lets face it all the systems work if installed and used correctly. All either push on or pull on the brake pedal of the car. Why make it complicated? This system is purely mechanical, cheaper, and very well made. I did not buy the ready brake to save money. I bought the one that seems "best" to me. Of course I am not disappointed that it cost less.

I have had a Ready-Brute tow bar for about four years now, have towed tens of thousands of miles with it. It works great, easy to hook up and I can inspect it in a few seconds. Very simple and little to go wrong. All for $750.

I use the whole setup. It works flawlessly and was a very economical solution to bringing the jeep with us. I highly recommend their products. They are built very rugged. I come from a manufacturing background and was so impressed with build quality

Here you can see wher I brought out the cable for the brakes
