Sure, I do it. Just don't run down your truck battery.

We do it at times. You are hooked up all day towing and bouncing, what could a calm stop over hurt?

Take some of the weight off your Tow Vehicle using your tongue jack,
Just don't forget to crank it up before you drive off.

I've also heard that you should disconnect the pigtail between TV and TT when stopped (assuming you're hooking up to electricity in the campsite). We have done a staying-hitched overnight once and it worked out fine. I agree to put the tongue jack down & relieve the TV of the extra weight while camped.

Of course you can, why would you even think you can't keep the truck hooked to the trailer? The trailer and truck have been bouncing on the road all day, and now while stopped, it can't be connected? Ever stop while connected and eat, maybe linger a while at a point of interest enjoying several hours or more at the site? Should the trailer be disconnected for that?

I have done this with no problems. Also, I put the tongue jack down, but not to relieve the pressure on the TV but to help stabilize the TT.

If you have a Ford for a tow vehicle you will have no problems. If you have most other types of tow vehicles, you will not have any problems as long as you unhook the electrical umbilical cord so you don't run down your battery on the tow vehicle. Ford uses a relay to isolate the two unless the ignition key is turned on but most others use only a fuse and it IS possible to flatten your battery on the tow vehicle.

There SHOULD be no reason you'd need to take any weight off of the tow vehicle since it seems to support it just fine (or I HOPE it does) when you're going down the highway with it. It'll do just as well sitting still as when bouncing down the road. You MAY Need to use the tongue jack to level the trailer, however, and THAT is necessary to keep from damaging your fridge.

Good luck / Skip
