I thought you meant you wanted to run the fridge on 12 volt like my old camper which would kill the batteries, but for running off the propane you would just turn on batteries, I don't have a switch to take batteries off line, mine are on the whole time it is sitting in the back yard, just I keep it plugged in so the batteries are kept up.
So yes turn batteries on and fire up fridge on propane, I don't think the fridge draws that much on start up, once the igniter does its job the battery is probably not used until the fridge for some reason goes out and the igniter has to kick in again.
Now the furnace requires the battery to be up and supplying power the whole time, due to the fan having to cycle on and off.

I had a small spare panel from a solar motion detector light that went bad. So for the last week I set up a computer fan to it and just had it sitting on the deck to see how it would work. Takes fairly strong sunlight to start it but once it's running it will continue to do so even when cloudy. My plan is to set the panel up on the roof and run the wiring down thru the vent down to the fan. I believe someone posted about a similar setup a while back.

One tip I got on these boards, not to do with fridge fans, but keeping it cold.
Keep beverages in a cooler, then you are not going into the fridge each time someone wants a soda. I find that the cooler ice packs freeze quickly (I rotate 3 of them), so I am not buying or making ice every day.
The other tip was to put food in baskets in the fridge and pull out the basket instead of rummaging around the shelves. I have a bbq basket that has all the condiments, another with salad dressings etc. I keep fruit in one drawer and remove the whole drawer etc.
One last tip was ice cube bags. I had a blond moment the day I put the ice cube trays in the freezer, just be fore we drove away. After cleaning up my mess, (at least it was just water), I found out about ice cube bags. Fill the bag with water, tie the top and it will not leak. Just pop out the ice cubes as needed.

I installed a 110v refridgerator when we realized our ice box was insufficient. The dorm style fridge has no fan, so I added the Frifgecool.
When I first installed the fridge, I popped a thermometer in, and set the fridge to 35 degrees. Put a 2 liter and a few cans of soda in, and temp 3 days later was 42 degrees, and I found no reason for the temperature difference. I did not change the setting, nor did I move the thermometer.
I added the Fridgecool and left the coldness setting of the fridge at #4. Everything remained the same, sodas in door racks etc, and the temp went back to 35 degrees.
I think the items took the cool energy to remain cold, and created a warmer spot where the fan sat, and this was reflected in the temperature reading on the thermometer.
Fridgecool made a difference, the temperature was even inside the fridge, and hopefully sodas will be frigid.

We just got back from a 9 day stay at the trailer. Seems like the solar powered fan works, maybe too well. We have one of those digital thermometers with the remote sensor and I placed that in the frig. We hit as low as 25F in the frig area some mornings and the freezer was at -10F at those times. I set the control down to 2 ( 3 being the normal) and still got below 32F at times. Daytime temps were mid to high 80's and night were mid to upper 60's. I placed a min/max type thermometer in the frig when I left Monday and will in interested to see what the range was this week when we return to the camper Friday. Will update next week.

Wow, i never noticed a problem with our fridge keeping things cold & my boys are always in & out of it. Perhaps it's cause i just throw in the frozen meats wherever they fit to thaw for the next meal?? I'll have to pay more attention to this this weekend & see if it warrants buying another RV gadget that the DH just LOVES! LOL

well...I ordered both things I asked about in the beginning of this thread...did it help...who knows. I put the fan on the back of the fridge right on top of the cooling vents. It turns on like it should and I can feel the heat coming out the top of the vent but who knows if it is helping. The fan on the inside...personally I think is crap. It moves so little air that I can't see how it helps. Two more gadgets in the book, waste of money...not sure.
One thing that I did get that I love is a thermometer so I can see what the actual temp is in the fridge.

Do you have a thermometer in your refrigerator and freezer or are you just assuming it is cold enough?
I'd strongly suggest getting one that has 1 probe for the refrigerator and 1 for the freezer. Wires come out of to the display unit that you can mount next to the refrigerator.
Ideally, you'd like the refrigerator to be under 40 degrees, I believe.
