Ah, how about the politicans who still to this day, in spite of what is happening in the market, refuse to allow drilling offshore and in Alaska. They claim it will only save "a few cents". Well, those "few cents" belong to us, the taxpayers, and it shows the degree of contempt they hold for us. Also, is anyone aware that China is drilling 60 miles off the coast of Florida? Apparently, they can drill but we can't? Also, nearly 60% of France's electricity comes from nuclear power. Could you image the uproar if anyone tried to build a new nuclear plant in this country?
Granted, the free market dictates the price for oil, but here's something to ponder: in 2006, when Harry Reid and company took over, and promised to decrease our dependence on foreign oil (yes, that was one of their "promises"), the national average for a gallon of gas was $2.36.
Wow, what a great job they've done in the past two years...

Politicians will never solve any of our problems. They are part of the problem not part of the solution. Both of the major parties are for sale to the highest bidder. Unfortunate but true. I recall "W" saying he would never allow the price of crude to rise the way Clinton did. I think it was about $21.00/barel at the time he said that yet here we sit approaching 150.00/barel. They are all full of great speeches and false promises. Beyond that, Politicians are worthless. The only reason I vote Republican is because they don't cower down to the Environmental Whackos that want to close our public lands.

For the past five years we head up to Trinity Center every summer. Brother in-law has a home there and we stay at Wyntoons, which now is a KOA campground. This year we are going to pass for a trip to Lake San Antonio, The price of diesel is the reason.

I think you'd better re-evaluate who you vote for. The current wilderness bill for the Inyo forest and surrounding area is authored by a Republican (Mckeon Wilderness Act). I don't see a difference anymore between Dems and Repubs when it comes down to land closures.
Both of them have succumbed to the enviros and their vision for this country.
