Bugs, If you go to the oceanodunes.org page there are folks who are selling reservations. Just keep checking and you might get lucky.
I for one am not cancelling any plans for camping. Life is way too short to do that.
Our vehicles are diesel, so you know it has to hurt when it is $5.19 a gallon....ouch
Sure glad I already bought that drum of VP for the quad or that would be really expensive....ouch again

No canceling here. Leaving july 1 for Custer South Dakota from Dallas Texas. About 1100 miles one way. That doesn't include miles on motorcycles when we get there. Cost of diesel $4.78 a gallon. Cost of camping 28.00 per night. Cost of fireworks over Mt Rushmore PRICELESS!!! Wouldn't change a thing.

I know times are tough but I can't justify telling my kids that we can't spend the money on fuel when I'm at work for most the day.

The reality is less than $100 for us this year from last year, its $165 to fill our 3500 dually,That gets us approx. 200 miles towing our condo on wheels that takes us to Gorman & back or Johnson Valley & back and really if the toy hauling crowd was concerned about a hundred bucks i would bet we wouldn't have these expensive toy haulers and toys that go in them.
We just are not taking tri tip and expensive booze we will even cut out the booze part (not that my smirnoff ice is off the charts)last trip we did hamburgers & hot dogs & water and the riding was just the same!

You're doing pretty good at less than 100.00 increase. When I bought my truck and trailer at the end of 2004 the average price of diesel was $2.09/Gal. The average price of premium 2.21/gal. Just factoring in the fuel cost I spend an additional $205.00 per trip. Five trips equal an extra $1,000.00. Now factor in the rising cost of food and alcohol associated with the increased fuel cost and the trips begin to cost more and more.
Personally, I will continue to use my trailer and toys but damn where is it all going to end. $6.00/gal, $7.00/gal? Who knows? I make pretty darn good money and when my wife is doing okay as a realtor we make really good money between us (200 to 300k) but I can certainly understand where these costs begin to cause people to curtail their trips. This is becoming more and more painful for average Americans. I think our life styles are going to seriously change over the next 10 years.

I wish i knew when it would end but i love to go ride more than anything i do for leisure, so i will keep finding ways to pay for that gas. surely this can't go on forever before something will bring relief i will even save all those water bottles and use that for gas! Now if a trip will cost as much as my house pymt. the trip wont happen. We just started 2 yrs ago so we haven't seen as much difference in price as many of you seasoned toy haulers but I for one hope that something will change so we can continue to toy haul.

"Get busy living, or get busy dying" . Perfectly put.
We are leaving on the 26th for a little RV & Casino resort in Pahrump, then to Vegas for a few days mid week, then to Palm Springs for the 4th of July weekend.
We will be burning some serious diesel gold but worth every bit the cost. Sure it sucks to drop $150-$175 bucks at every fuel stop but I'm not letting these high price corporate fuel company's dictate what I do or don't do. I'll keep finding a way to pay for the fuel, I'll go broke before I'll sit at home and rot.
