We spend 6 months in Florida. Hubby is continually complaining about the humidity (drives me crazy) and he keeps cranking the airconditioner. I personally do not like it so cold that you can see your breathe
He says that what we need is a "dehumidifier". I'm thinking that the noise of the "dehumidifier" would drive us crazy in such a small area.
Any thoughts on this subject?

I don't think its a bad idea at all. You can always put it in a corner where something would block the fan noise.
Actually, how much louder would it be than the a/c unit? Not much.

I have a small one I put in ours when we don't have the ac on and it's in storage. It is about as loud as the air conditioner.

Look into the Soleus dehu's. They're great, work very well and are VERY quiet. I have two, brother has a couple and BIL has one now and can believe how much water they remove without a bunch of noise.

A dehumidifier sound like a good idea but beware that they do put out dry heated air - not hot, just warmer than the room temp. So, while it's dry, you may be setting up a tug o war between the dehum and the AC

WE go to Home Depot and buy a bucket that has potassium chloride in it that absorbes moisture and it has what looks like Tyvek on the top so nothing to empty. It is about gallon size and lasts us all summer, and in winter put two in for the storage period and we have NO moisture or mildew anywhere. Try it and it makes NO noise, costs $9.99 per bucket. I think it is DampRid or something like that.

I wonder if the potassium chloride is the same stuff they sell at Marine Stores for boats that are left dockside? Just a thought, but I know for 2.99 you can pick up a bucket (12 oz) that is good for 900 sq ft.

We are X boat owners and we know about "damp" out products. I guess what I was saying is that hubby will run the dehumidifier without the air-conditioner. The temp in the RV is sometimes in the mid/low
70 range but hubby is always complaining about the "humidity". I tell him to just think if we were up north you would be complaining about the "wind chill factor"
What I wanted to know is "quiet dehumidifier". Brand names??
Thanks
