Has anybody got a suggestion on how to stop squirrels from chewing holes in my cover? TIA, Tom.

A good hunting dog. Rat traps. Oil of peppermint. Someone watching with a BB gun... I vote for oil of peppermint.

D-con and something they'd like to eat mixed with it, sit it up on top. Just keep a garbage bag handy. Also, make certain there aren't any cats in the area that might get into it by accident.

If any of these work please let everyone know. We are trying, and failing, to stop them from eating holes in all of our gas and propane lines.

My DW uses a product that is made from black pepper on her potted plants to keep them from digging in the pots. It works well but, has to be applied after each rain - which is about everyday lately. You'd have to make it into a paste for your application and then it could stain the plastic. They will get the idea sooner or later. I'd go with a "Have-A-Hart" wire cage trap and then relocate them in the next state!

They ate the wiring out of my truck around the engine once. I had no idea until the truck wouldn't start one day. $$$ to fix - I hope you get them.

I had a squirrel problem once...solved it with the old Winchester 12 Gauge.

Actually I found putting some mothballs around the perimeter and around the roof tend to keep the critters out.

If not it only takes about 1/4" of lead to put about 75% of the shot in the place of the squirrels head.

Good Luck

I second this; however wait till you know which of the local 3-dozen squirrels sets atop your camper before getting him with a load of 3-inch double-O so you get the right offender, and line-of-sight is aligned with a neighbor's house you don't like, all inside an urban area setting...not.

I don't know about your town, but we live on a mountain 12-miles from the nearest town, with nearest neighbors 400-feet away. If we let loose with a 12-gauge cannon (or, any other firearm) on our property, the shooter would get 5 to 10 in prison before you could say: it's raining pellets!

Squirrels chewing anything: there's virtually nothing you can do about it save moving to a squirrel-free environment. You remove 1 squirrel, 3 more will take it's place, filling it's territorial niche in an hour....and so on.
