When I have my tonneau on I get about 1 more mpg (or a bit more if mostly hi-way). When I had an F 150 and had a cap on it, it was pretty much the same as without.

I had a tonneau, now have a topper. Don't see a difference towing. Prefer the topper for taller covered space.

I have added caps to 2 trucks and did not notice any difference in fuel mileage. Maybe any improvement in aerodynamics is offset by additional weight.

have the fiberglass top. haven't noticed any difference and it would have to be pretty drastic(bad) to get rid of it. for me, it's my lockable trunk. even with the crew cab and all seats in normal position there is hardly any storage space.

I have an 07 Sierra Crew Cab with a matching fiberglass topper. Wouldn't have it any other way - lots of storage for bikes, etc. that can be locked and out of the weather. Haven't paid much attention to mileage without - I ordered the topper when I took delivery on the truck.

I would not be with out a topper ! Have to have one with all the "stuff" that I haul in the bed that I want to keep dry and locked up. Bikes, gen, wood, chairs etc .Found no difference in gas mileage with or without the topper on

We have a Retrax Tonneau, on long trip (2100 miles from Florida to eastern Canada) with our 2500HD Duramax get 20 Mpg (US Gallons), don't know for absolute sure if Tonneau helps but think it does.
BTW MPG computed using an Excel program over five years use.

I don't think I ever checked my mileage one way or the other, it was always bad.

If I didn't need a shell I wouldn't get one and I never cared for tonneau covers.

It's definitely easier to drive with a tonneau cover vs a shell.

We love our Leer Cap on our F150. Way more storage for camping, no discernable difference in gas mileage...

I lost 1mpg with the fiberglass tonneau. No difference towing. I want a cap though, just so I can put my bikes in the bed standing up.
