The feds looked at similar ideas when car emissions standards came out....they decided to let the old cars die on their own and keep from having civil uprising.....I hope the truckers are a big enough voting block to stop this nonsense. Another post has already said that CAT has had enough of emission regulation and is looking at no longer producing over highway engines.

I think you will find that this applies to heavy commercial trucks, not our light duty pickups and motorhomes.
When they DO expand it to light duty vehicles, I anticipate a mass exodus from California by diesel owners, and/or there will be a LOT of light duty diesel trucks and cars for sale in the auto auctions.
There are times when living in Montana has definite advantages.

The article doen't mention RV's. They may be exempted as they have been before. Plus, it is the job of the CARB to come up with new approaches to reducing air pollution. Not everything they propose becomes law. Also, read the article, there may be financial help available if this happens.
For those who say this will keep them away from CA, well, see ya!

What I want to say about California is ( delete, delete, delete, delete, delete,) , and furthermore (delete, delete, delete, delete, delete,) , and one more thing (delete, delete, delete, delete, delete,)
But also in California ( delete,delete,delete,delete,) and I still don't understand ( delete,delete,delete,delete,delete,delete,delete,)

Joel, they didn't need to do anything to keep me away from CA, attitudes like you have here were enough for me. We need to clean up the air period, but not penalize those that bought something in good faith?

Under 2 and counting!
Assuming the remove and replace cost for an over the road truck engine is $15,000, I am guessing
they have 20 years to repay? Somehow, I just feel there will be "kinks" in the system.
