What's the gouge on useing my RV generator while driving down the road? I'd like to use my house AC in these hot Southern Summers when the coach AC just doesn't handle it.

There are a lot of folks that use genset to operate there AC units. It takes the strain off the engine so it run cooler and not have a loss of power. It is also claimed to use less fuel then running the chaise AC. Bill

Maybe I didn't monitor the fuel consumption as well as I should; however, last year, VERY warm, ran the generator to run the house A/C for about five hours. Refueled at destination - calculated 6.5 mpg as opposed to my typical 8.0 mpg. We were cooler but did consume more fuel.

Yes, we run the generator while going down the road to run the AC. Works much better than using the dash AC. That only keeps the driver and whoever is in the front passenger seat cool.

Anything larger than a car will not be cooled by a dash air conditioner. Of course, I run the generator so I can stay comfortable.

At half load, my 4K generator uses less than a half a gallon of gasoline each hour. Without AC, I will sweat more than that. I'm sorry, I'll perspire more than that.

Horses sweat,
Men perspire,
Women glow.

Driving from New Hampshire to CA I had to run the trusty genset to keep cool driving thru Vegas. Had both roof units workin!

Here in the Vegas desert, I always run the gen and the house air.

The manual for my Onan 4kw generator says it uses 1/3 to 1/2 gallon per hour depending on load.
