So I am assuming the guy I saw at a KOA earlier this year shouldn't be towing a Fleetwood Terry Triple Slide 29.5' Fifth Wheel with a Dodge Ram 1500 Mega Cab Hemi?

We tow a 33' (true overall length) 2006 Keystone Outback that has a listed weight of 8800 lbs with a 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 CTD Quad Cab Short Bed with no problems at all. Just try to find as light a fifth wheel as you can that suits you and your family and you'll be fine. I've seen guys towing heavy triple slide 5th wheels with 250 / 2500 Diesel's. Not sure it's the safest thing to do and not sure what modifications they have made to beef up suspension on the tow vehicle but have seen many, many people doing it.

I pull this trailer with a Chevy 2500HD Crew Cab 4x4 Duramax and have not had any problems. I am inside the limits of my truck, even with the 60 gallon aux tank full.

Like some said do not go on length alone. I tow a 36' with my 2500 Chevey durmax. I will say I did not come to this forum first and when on what dealer said that I would not have a problem and I do not. I have not checked my pin weight but it does not even push the truck down that far. I had a pallet of grass last month that sqatted the back end down more than my fiver.

If you pay attention to the "weight police', you'll end up with a 10' pop-up with your truck. Get the RV that suits YOU. We pull a 36' Montana with our '05 Dodge 2500 3/4 ton CTD. And it isn't overloaded.

I have the same truck as you do pulling the rig in my sig.

Steering axle--4600#
Drive axle-----5680#
Trailer axles--10280#

About 300# over but not enough to worry about. Truck does just fine.

Our fiver is 30'11" and weighs about 9500 lbs fully loaded.
We tow with an 03' Ford F250, 7.3L, crew cab, SB.
We do just fine with ours.

And YES, we are a few pounds over our cargo capacity, but we keep nothing
in the bed or our truck except 2 extra cans of diesel!

Inside the truck is just me, hubby and our 10 lbs dog.

All the rest is in the back of the trailer.
We try to keep the pin weight down as much as we can.

Our fiver has 2 slides!

More smoke and mirrors in an attempt to say he is not overloaded. No one has ever said that except the people who are actually overloaded and won't admit it! What is your scaled weights?

I do believe that your truck is listed at 20,000 GCWR and 9000 GVWR, so in reality you are overloading the truck by 1280 pounds and the GCWR by over 500 pounds. What are your tires rated for?

I'm pulling with a F350 SRW, which had the same weight ratings as your rig. You can't go by the length, as some trailers are made of different materials that are lighter. I have a friend with a 36 ft. Mobile suites, that is very heavy. I have a 38 ft. Quantum that is just perfect for my truck. You must look at the weight of the trailer, and then realize that some of the weight are a guess by the manufacture. I've been across the scales, and I'm right on target, with maybe 500lb. to spare. I carry an extra 91 gallons of diesel in the truck bed, so my rear axle weight may be a little heavy for the first 200 miles of travel. Just be careful and compare the weights of different trailers. We were looking at Hitchhiker, which I love, but it is much heavier. Also the dealer was sort of a jerk, so stayed with the current dealer.
