My wife and I just got an '05 Yukon XL and I need help with the brake controller. I found a spot in the fuse box near the brake pedal for a trailer 6 way connector. Is this where I plug the harness for the controller? Also there is a 30amp fuse in the box under the hood for the trailer power wire. The harness with the vehicle comes with a 40amp fuse. Should I switch the two of theese. Your help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

YUP the under dash fuse panel is where the brake controller plugs in. Be sure to get the correct harness. Much easier and they did change from year to year. If your SUV came with a 40 amp fuse taped to the harness, that is what you put in. That goes in the under hood fuse panel located on the drivers side fender. There will be a dummy fuse in the number 1 slot that you tank out and install the fuse. IF there is already a fuse in place, you are done. No need to change it.
Thanks for the quick response. The harness is the GM one that came with the vehicle so I'm in good shape there. So you are saying that the fuse goes in aux stud #1 where the red plastic dummy fuse is?
