National Park, that is.
Just heard on the local news that Going To The Sun Highway is closed, and won't be open for several weeks. Seems a storm dumped a couple feet of snow up there.
Yellowstone?
Beartooth pass is (still) closed. Sylvan pass is slippery, and may be closed, depends on what the next storm does.
Ah, Spring in the Mountain West. It can be SO much fun!

Yeah, I remember getting snow overnight every night for a week - the first week of July - back in '69. It did kill the mosquitos, though.

Think it'll be OK in August? We're going to be coming back home to SoCal then, and going thru Yellowstone. We were there one time in Sept. and it got darn cold with snow on the mountains surrounding Yellowstone. Beautiful place and can't wait to see it again.

May we all have safe travels.

My son and his buddies went snowmobiling at Cooke City, MT on the NE entrance the first week in June. I know a couple of guy heading to the Big Horns west of Sheridan, WY tomorrow. There was lots of snow in the mountains this winter and more has been falling in JUNE.

This is a picture taken today in Cooke City, MT PIC

Beartooth pass closed 6-3-08 and remains closed today 6-12-08.

This is a picture of the Beartooth highway taken shortly after it opened June 1, 2008 PIC

Yep, there is a town named West Yellowstone, Montana, and parts of the Park are in Montana. The West and North entrances are in Montana (West Yellowstone, Gardiner, and Cooke City, MT). U.S. 191 from West Yellowstone to Bozeman, MT, runs through the West edge of the Park, in Montana.

Even if you were going to Glacier tomorrow, You are still gonna see stuff. Going to the Sun road isn't the only thing to see there. There's over a million acres of stuff to see. The asphalt road is only one aspect of the park. And yes it's closed, but it wasn't open before the snow storm. It rarely opens before mid to the end of June. And it will get shut down on occasion because of snow fall even into the end of July, but that's only for a few hours so they can clear it for the safety of visitors. Some of the best things to see in Glacier are seen in the spring and fall (my Favorite). Before and after the crowds. Besides a little snow is not gonna hurt you............. Bella

Here's the best way to see the Going to the Sun road. http://www.glacierparkinc.com/transportation.htm

We were in Glacier at the end of summer last year but were driven out by the smoke from the wildfires. Unfortunately, there aren't very many glaciers left in Glacier. Spring would be the best time to go if you want to see snow ond ice covered peaks.

I would never drive my POV on going to the sun highway. Watching the road leaves little time to focus on the scenery. I recommend the school bus vans operated by the Blackfoot tribe, they are climate-controlled. The red bus operated by the park is open-air; if it begins to rain the driver does not replace the tonneau-style roof cover until stopping at the lodge.

We were there in 05. A park ranger said at the current rate, all the glaciers will be gone by 2020.
