Powergear says to use Silicone spray and wipe them down to keep clean. WD 40 and grease are both no-no's for the '04 units I have.
I have found that the rear jacks are very slow unless freshly sprayed with silicone and wiped after an extended stay (over 4 days in our case). This gets much worse in temps below 40 F. The spray and wipe reduce the lift time significantly. Also it is especially important to wipe them down when camped in the desert or on the beach
