Have fun, Carmen!

We have been RVing since 1986 and I find that every year the planning of the trip gets more fun (except when I budget for gasoline!!!!)

I have found one of the best ways to find campgrounds is through the use of the Good Sam Club trip planner. They provide the best route give you the mileage, amount of fuel you can plan on using and how long it will take you to get there. Try it sometime.

Here's another good website:

http://freecampgrounds.com/index.aspx

You can look up by state campgrounds $10/night or less, and some have reviews. We've found a couple of good overnight stops on this site; for example, there's a city park in Childress, TX which provides a small parking lot with full hookups for $10/night, for RV's traveling through who need a spot to sleep for the night. Also found some good Forest Service campgrounds on this site.

While on the road, I use Woodall's, I have found the ratings to be on the money.

At home, I use RVparkreviews.com to see what others have had to say about the CG's on my route.

IF you have a GPS system for your motorhome, you can look up campgrounds near the town you would like to stay in,..then you can use the GPS to get you to the campground of your choice.
I don't know what we ever did without our GPS.

There's also a web-site: RVParkfinder.com which shows campgrounds along the routes (newly developed site - has lots of campground names, addresses, phone numbers, but not enough input from members as to the current amenities).

We are Good Sams members and get information about camp ground from their website. I also have a Woodalls directory that helps, but the best results I think are from www.rvparkreviews.com I think the comments posted are usually pretty accurate and more up to date.

We have found we like State parks over most RV sites. But we still do RV sites. I plan the trip out and find sites with many of the above listed sources and also have found www.reserveamerica.com to be fabulous. There is no one source to go to. Check your trip, plan your stops and work from that. Remember that many of the popular state park and national park sites book up to a year in advance. There's usually a reason.

Our last trip we did was from MD to Florida keys. We stayed in Bahia Honda on the water in a fabulous site with water and electric. It was great. We reserved the site this past November. At less then $30 a day, even with the gas prices, it's a great deal.

See what sites work for you and stick with them.

I usually look at Woodall's and then look on RVParkReview.com to see how others have rated these campgrounds. It usually works very well for us.
