It cuts well inside the truck tracks on corners, so swing wide on turns. Backing is different and takes some getting use to.

To answer your question, I put the truck in drive, stepped on the gas and away we went with no problems except a nervous stomach. Only challenges were the off tracking being greater than tt.

I went from a 20ft. Trailmanor to a 36ft. 5er. Like said in other post, I set the brake controller and took off. Also had been towing with a 2500 gas and went with a 350 D dually. Makes for a large unit. No problems--just swing wide on corners. Now Backing is a whole new deal!!

First - Congratulations on the new 5ver. Second - we had a 19 ft. tt and then had nothing for 12 years until we bought our 27 ft. 5ver four years ago. Hubby just told me that he was nervous driving it off the lot, but was raving about how easy it was once we got home. So try not to worry too much. You're hubby will do just fine. Good Luck!

There's only one difference in towing he needs to pay attention to -- the fiver will cut more inside a turn that a TT. I had a few close calls before it became natural. Everything else is pretty much the same, except the fiver will track a lot straighter than a TT.

Did the same thing three weeks ago but the DW was in the truck, take your time and yes the 5th cuts closer to the curb. Before you have to back in the driveway at home, stop by a parking lot and try a few practise runs(I went to a High School parking lot) Last week took our first trip and jump a curb, lesson learned. Congrats and enjoy.

We just upgraded from a TT to 5th wheel last week too, and I was also nervous about pulling, stopping and backing it up. To be honest it's not much different from the TT. Backing it up is alittle different but nothing major. I do notice that it is heavier on the truck but, doesn't really pull much different from our TT. Good luck and enjoy

Well, we picked it up today. Only one minor thing to get fixed on a drawer during the walk thru, they handled it right away. DH spent a little time adjusting the brake controller, then off we went. Everything was fine until we took a wrong turn. We were to make a left at the light with the Rite Aid pharmacy on the corner. We did, but little did we know there were 2 lights in a row with the exact same store on the corner DH had to make a "K" turn in the Rite Aid parking lot...talk about trial by fire! He did great and we got home without any further trouble, but did I sure feel bad sending him the wrong direction He certainly got his practice backing up!

This wasn't the first time was it? My dh has received wrong directions from his co-pilot more than once. And let me tell you, things can get a little testy when you're in a busy area. But it blows over quickly and we get back to normal
Happy to hear all went well otherwise!
