There will always be folks who think "Oh my truck can do it"

There will always be ad men pitching the towing ability of a small truck

And there will always be trailer salesmen who have no clue at all as to what a F-150 (or smaller) truck can tow who try to sell trailers far too large.

I think a lot of this stems from the second "There will always" Auto companies showing a light pick up towing a jet liner or a freight train or more weight than they can possibly tow with anything short of an Ford (since you are selling Fords) 8000 series.

I cringe every time I see those commercials

And if you would like a list of auto companies that show them Well... Just look up a list of companies making pick up trucks.. Same list. No exceptions.

How true, when will people stop blaming salesmen. Your rig, truck and trailer are your responsibility. Stop blaming someone and man up. Seems everyone is a victim and no one wants to admit they should have educated themselves before making a purchase, easier to blame the salesman than admit you made a mistake.

That's why this site is so good. I started reading the posts here several months before we purchased our TT. I was a great education. And I just keep learning!!

When I wanted a bigger TT I found out how big I could buy before I went shopping. When we went to RV show I would look at bigger than I can tow campers because I just wanted to look. I had a salesman tell I could pull a 32' 9500lbs TT. and a salesman tell me I could pull a monster fiver with my truck I looked at them and said yea right.
The TT we bought is close to max I can tow.

Buying a TT is an emotional decision, many choose to hear what they want as it relates to the ability to tow it with their current vehicle - that is until they do

Guess I am the opposite of many.
My homework is done long before the decision of what to buy is formed.
Many consumers have not learned the ole adage let the buyer be where, or the buyer is always right.
What irks me is shopping for smaller items on the spot and there is plenty of sales words but no true meaningful specs.

Most car order takers don't know any thing about their product other what they are told by the people that train them. They slip form one dealship to another and from one product to another.

Anything that's technical and out of the ordinary throws them. Rather then be honest and say "I don't know. Lets go look it up",they give you an off the cuff answer designed to make you happy.

Do your own research and verify your findings.
