No slide, no interest in one. We don't spend that much time inside.

Local dealer confided to my wife they can't park the non-slide hybrids on the same side of the log as the slide models. She said the slide models look so much better to potential buyers the sell many more of them.
We had one in the popup and sure weren't going to be without it in the hybrid.

We're in our third season with our 23b and still comment on how happy we are that we bought a unit with a slide. Makes such a huge difference in our opinion.

Slides are always nice, but sometimes the size, weight and floorplan you want does not come with one. This is especially true of the shorter models.

We weighed price and weight heavily in our decision to but a HTT w/out a slide. As mentioned above, for many of the shorter trailers the slide is not available. We graduated from a tent right to the HTT so the slide seemed like a huge luxury we did not need. Maybe in a few years when our two kids grow up we will want one. I also wondered about the extra mechanical duties to worry about but have not read about many problems with things hanging up or extra repairs. One thing I love about camping is that there are so many options available that you can tailor your adventure specifically to your needs and desires. Some swear by tents, others go with a home on wheels bigger than my first starter house.

We chose the ROO 233 (no slide). I calculated that with our V6 4Runner, we could pull a hybrid with a slide (21SS or 23B style if my memory serves) with 2 beds, or the 233 with 3 beds.
So I guess our choice was a weight/# of bed issue.
I believe we chose wisely, we had 3 great seasons of camping in our 7-1/2 ft wide - no slide hybrid.
A slide (even a small one) truly makes a difference inside. Although we were pretty narrow in the 233, we had little regrets with our purchase. We vacationed two summers for 10 days each in Myrtle Beach, and we were only cramped during thunderstorms.
The number one reason I upgraded to a 5'er was not the narrow width. It was not having to setup the 3 tent ends. More room inside, more storage, etc. were numbers 2 . . .
Personal reasons? Here are some personal reasons that I can think of. "I don't like having that extra space." or, (and I've actually heard this one) "What do you need a slide for? It's just something else to break."
