We make the trip from Wyoming to Iowa every June - family visits. No camper - just the pickup. It is a boring trip & I have been informally tracking how many campers there are & how many of them are tcs.

The last few years there have been about 3 to 6 campers per mile and a good share of them were tcs. This year there was about 1 camper per 3 miles and most were the big honking bus-types. The rest were mostly little pull type foldouts. On the way to Iowa - only three tcs and on the way back - one- and that was within a mile of home.

Assumptions: You almost have to have the big bucks to travel and not care about the cost or you're pinching pennies big time. Still doesn't explain the lack of truck campers or does it?

I noticed the opposite out here in Washington state last weekend. I thought the majority of the rigs I saw were TC's. Maybe its because I notice them more than other types. I assumed it was because the TC'ers were the ones that could afford to travel because it was more economical than driving a Class A or Big C, or towing a big TT or 5'er. I will say I saw many rigs out this evening on the freeway and not a TC in sight.

I've lived out of the camper for the past 2 1/2 months, working mostly in the Carolinas. I haven't seen the first TC, either on the road or in a campground.

I travel Hwy 50, 80 and 37, from Placerville CA to San Rafael CA, every week. It is about 260 miles round trip. I have made this drive for 4-1/2 years. I do not count the TC's, but there are always many on the highways. I have not seen an obvious drop.

I just got back from a week up in Northern Iowa helping my sisters and brother clean up their basements from the flood waters. On the way up I saw one S&S and the way back saw one Lance and one Northstar. Lots of TT and 5rv's and MH's.

I drove 1500 miles over the weekend...left Denver Friday after work and drove an hour past Bozeman MT, then returned on Sunday. I took a diesel Jetta and spent about $150 instead of taking the camper for two nights. In any case, we saw a ton of truck campers (I thought about counting but didn't) and I would tend to say the percentage of TC's versus 'other' RV's was higher than usual. I would say there was a substantial overall drop in the number of RV's.

3 TC's in the Kiptopeke CG on the eastern shore of VA. Probably a CG record.

Went to Lake Oroville last weekend and I stop by WalMart and saw four Truck Campers in their parking lot. I counted three Lances and a BigFoot. Lots of TC in NorCal. Saw more in Hiway 70 and 132
