A short trip and a bag of ice will break up anything that is in the tank. I am not sure that it would reach anything in the pipes. I like that back flush with a hose too.

Had a gray tank clog once that I solved using the hose connection on my drain cap. I changed out my drain cap early on to verify there was nothing that was going to be blasting out when I took it off. Some folks think it's cool to pull a valve on ya and then close it filling up the drain pipe between valve and drain cap. Hose connection on drain cap prevents much spillage.
These caps can be had at a lot of different places like Wally's, Freddy's or any RV place.

I know this sounds kinda gross, but sometimes it is necessary. I once had a clogged pipe due to using just regular toilet paper. I had to get a section of broomstick and unclogged it from the inside. It did work though. Good Luck..

In my manual for my KZ it says to use Drano or Liquid Plumber, to help clean the tank, i would imagine that it would help break up the clog.

You may just want to poke an old hose up from the outside drain.....its flexible and yet firm enough to unclog your tank. It will go around bends well and wont harm anything.....just stand back when it hits the clog.

When I approached the DW about her using your suggested technique, she recoiled and informed me that I would be contacted by an attorney in the morning! Seriously, I'm prepared to use this method if all else fails. I'm just hoping for the Rid-Ex to work.

If you get to the point were you need to open the valve then shove a hose into it may I suggest that you try the Flush King or similar product. I’m sure it would do a much better job then a garden hose would.
Remember the clog will be right at the valve blacking the flow so the high pressure stream should break it up. You could also get a plumbers snake and run it down thru your toilet and see if you can break it up that way.
I would try every other method before I opened my Valve and shoved a hose in it.
Just an idea, the next time you go out camping fill your black tank up about ¼ of the way and add your chemicals before you start using the toilet. By doing this it will help keep the mound from forming in the first place (things will tend to float and not stay in one place).

Don We were told to always keep water and chemicals in the tank when not in use along with water in the toilet. After emptying our tank and cleaning it, we will always add water to the tank with chemicals and leave it in there. It is never completely empty.
