When I replaced them, I replaced the woods too as I figured if they weren't good enough for a thief to take, I needed new ones :0).

Up until our last camping trip left everything outside - as campers are the best folks anyway - all in the same boat.
We were at a local state park - 4 boys/1 girl all underage got a site with someones parents approval -stole 3 fishing poles, 2 tackle boxs and all my wood. Recovered most of it but some broken - now I do not know what to think. But as everyone said if you like it, do not want to replace it - lock it up.

Never in over 25 years of camping have we personally had or seen of anything being taken,You always hear of it but hardly ever see it first hand.. I would trust the next guy as much as he would trust me.

been RVing for 8 years and have traveled all over the southwest and in ourtravels we have made GOOD friends. We even Broke down in L.A. and was without a truck for 3 days. The family next to us came over and told us if we needed anything to ask, and every time they went away for the day they invited us. That was 6 Years ago, and we have met there on the same week every year since and have now our group is up to 7 rvs and over 30 people what a PARTY

At the campground I'm at right now (eastern TN) there's a motorhome nearby where the owner leaves quite a bit of gear outside on a table. Among the items are what appear to be portable battery packs (used to jump start a vehicle, etc.) and various other items of value which I think would be quite attractive to a would-be thief.

I wouldn't go that far, but I leave my lawn chair and small table out all the time and usually don't lock the storage doors on my fiver, as long as there are other campers within sight of my spot. In over 20 years of fulltiming I've never had anyone attempt to take anything. Of course, I don't leave anything of value in the open as a temptation.

A couple years back, we had our cooler stolen out of a public campground. It was a bran new cooler. In fact, it was the first time we used it, but worst of all, it had the last of the beer in it!!! Other than this incident, never had a problem.

Like others, I keep easily toted things like tools and the portable air compressor out of sight and usually locked in the bed of the TV. Other things we don't worry about and have never had an issue with it - yet.

safe travels,

Only thing we ever had stolen was 30 years ago. Really pixxed me off. Was my 4 year old sons teddy bear. Left on the picnic table. His name was "Ned the ted". Brat in the next site.

Take my beer, and enjoy it kid. Just don't take a teddy bear. Lower than whale turd.

We very seldom worry about this. Most of the time, our chairs, bikes, grill, fishing stuff and inflatable canoe are "out". But, everytime we leave or go to bed, the door and storage bays get locked.

WE leave bicyles ($300 ea. x 2), ice chest, pretty expensive lawn chairs, grill out all the time. Never had a problem (yet).
