I have found that many state maps don't alway show them but the Rand-McNally Atlas from Wal-Mart show them

ALWAYS check whatever any GPS tells ya with a old fashioned PAPER map! GPS's can and WILL take ya on some very strange and sometimesd dangerous roads or short-cuts.

My Garmin City Select NA database has rest areas. If City Select has them, City Navigator (used now on almost all automotive Garmins) also has them.

In addition to the GPS I like to use the "Next Exit" to find rest stops and services available at interstate exits.

One of GPS features I would like to see is a look ahead function when searching for services. I normally don't care what is behind or 20 miles beside me just what is ahead in my planed route.

My 660 has that - I thought they all did that. It will show fuel stations you're driving away from, and ones you're approaching and the mileages. You just tap on fuel/food icon and voila, there's the list.

My 660 also has rest areas. Generally speaking, if you don't get cheap units you'll get the nice features that you need.

I think what he's refering to is to ONLY see the ones in front, not the ones he passed. I've thought of that too, because my Garmin C330 will show ALL rest areas (or gas stations, or food) within a certain radius, but I'll find that most of them are behind me, which I don't need. It would be nice to somehow weed out the ones that are NOT in the direction that you're traveling. Do any others do that?
