Maybe for those of us that don't know what you are talking about, you could elaborate?? I've heard of "Kick boxing"

its a box that you buy one time and you hook it up between your cable tv, closed circuit cameras, etc and your cable modem so that when you are on the road and you log on to the net you can veiw whatever you have connected to the sling box from anywhere in the world.
i am employed by the local cable co. so since i have every channel that they offer as a co. perk i slingbox my hddvr box to my laptop when i am on the road. we used to connect an svideo cable from the laptop to the projector and beam it up on the coach, but since the bulb went out i refuse to spend 300.00 for a bulb when i only paid 600.00 for the whole projector.

Best not to stream video on a campground WiFi system. Sucks up so much bandwidth that others can't get on, or, if they do, the speed is way down.
One camp host told me they refer to video downloading as "strafing."

I have the Slingbox and just love it. If I'm in a campground with no cable and can't get satellite but they have Wi-Fi I just turn on the laptop and connect using the slingbox. To be honest I don't worry about taking bandwidth from someone else, not when I'm paying big bucks for using the Wi-Fi. If the Wi-Fi is free than that's a different story, I just won't use it. I also have it on my cell phone and use that a lot also. I also have a friend that lives in Montana and only has three channels on her TV, I have sent her the software to install on her laptop computer so she can watch TV. The only problem is if I'm watching TV she has to watch what I am watching.

The problem with slingboxing is bandwith

If your mobile internet is Hughes.. Unless you are on one of the higher priced plans you will fairly quickly max out and get shut down

Using cell phones? Verizon has limits as well.. I suspect most of the others do too

Using park Wi-Fi.. If you hog bandwith like that you are not going to make friends

I would suggest you not slingbox on the road

Guess you should hog the whole road when driving. After all, you pay big taxes to build and maintain it.

I don't slingbox, but I have been "playing" with ORB. Orb is free software which will stream video from your home PC. If you have a "Media Center" PC it can also stream live TV, etc. Otherwise, it can be used to stream downloaded media, watch Internet TV broadcasts, etc.

One interesting application of it is to use it to stream to my wi-fi connected Wii. They've done a very nice job of implementing a nice, clean web portal when connecting via a game console.

Quality of the streaming isn't great ... depends on quality of your connection/available banddwidth/viewing device, etc. but generally OK.

It doesn't matter if you are paying for the Wi-Fi or not, you are using a lot of the available campground bandwidth for the slingbox. That means all the other campers in the campground must share what is left if any. Seems you could just do a little email, etc. without streaming video for a night or two so others can do email, etc. to stay in touch with their friends also.
